Help !!
I was using the gforce5600 ultra, everything worked fine, decided to upgrade to a Radeon 9800 Pro  Angry and graphics seems really bad. I have the latest drivers and im running windows xp pro. Its 64 bit amd athlon 3000 so i cant see what the problem is. If anyone could help would be appreciated, if not guess i will be banging in my old card.
Best i have got it so far is to eventually take off, when im in the air it flys well but landing and take off seem to lock the machine almost. Oh and I have 1 gig of memory so its not a memory issue and ive benchmarked and tested all the machine so its got to be an issue within the game  ???

Thanks in advance  Wink

Have you deleted the old graphics drivers fully?

yep i have even done a fresh install, cant work it out ???

Stayed up till 2 in the morning last night , formatted the hard drive put a fresh copy of xp pro on, loaded all my drivers. This would be the first game to go on. I can play the game its only when i take off and land the computer locks up, i thought it might be a memory issue but ive changed it all and the memory is fine. Double checked the memory with Sisoft Sandra, its new memory so i know it isnt that, and tested it on another machine.
I love this game its doing my head in !!!!!

Would be great if anyone else in the forum has a Radeon 9800 Pro so they could tell me how they have there settings, ill stay here all month if i have to, life isnt worth living without my flying Noooooooooooooooo .

Ok bit over the top, just pulling my hair out at the moment thanks for any help .

Mustang,

I have the 9800XT.  Similar.

This might sound dumb.... but you DID plug in the video card FAN into the external power link didin't you?

As to settings...... I am about maxed....... works fine.

On short final into a big airport...... are you running max graphics and AI 100 percent and add on AI traffic?  If so it might actuially be overloading the capacity of the CPU and RAM to keep up ....not the graphics card.

best,

.................john

Big thanks john,
part of what you said did help me out , but your never going to guess what has caused all these problems !!!

Im running a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro and when i unchecked the feedback in FS2004 the game runs at max and i can use the joystick but unfortunatly no rumbling when i land etc.

90% of the problem was due to me using this joystick its the first time i have come across this problem but there you go live and learn.

Many thanks for the help anyway i appreciate it.

Mustang,

About the only connection I can see between what I said and the real issue was that MAYBE they both involved plugging in or out a wire.   Cheesy

But thanks  Smiley

Check your AGP settings in your BIOS, my 6800GT was'nt happy when I tried to run it @ 2xAGP!

Also, set your AGP appeure size to 256MB., 512MB if your BIOS allows it - the setting my 256MB 6800GT is happiest at.

Run http://www.drivercleaner.net/ Driver Cleaner on your machine, this will remove any possible corrupt traces of drivers, don't think a fresh install negates the requirement to do this, when I recently upgraded to an A64 3000+ & my 6800GT, I could'nt get the card to run well untill I'd run driver cleaner & installed fresh drivers, about 4 times!

I got there in the end though.

Good luck mate.
