I was at the airport today and got to thinking, lets say a pilot from AA is certified in a 737, 757 and a 767, will he fly all 3 of those from time to time as the airline sees fit or will he just fly lets say the 767 and thats it.

Most likely he/she would fly only one plane at a time.

Can only fly 1 type at the time (so no 737 on monday and 767 on tuesday)

However, a pilot can fly the aircrafts from the same series (ie 737NG or A32X) given that he is typed on the versions. The only major differences are the length and engine thrust, really.

SAS, for example, uses the same crew on the A330 and A340 flights. Transition here takes a whooping 3hrs...

Note: National/regional regulations may apply here.

This would be better worded as him having a 737, 747, and 777 type...I'll explain why in a moment.

With the 73, 74, and 77 types he would only fly one of those.

However, the 757 and 767 are on the same type certificate, and the pilots fly both. So he might fly MEM-LAX in a 757, and fly back in a 767.

...&&It is better to remain silent and be considered a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.&&&&There were once four people named Everybody, Somebody, Nobody and Anybody. Somebody had to do a job, but Nobody wanted to do it. Nobody could see that Anybody could do it, and Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job. Nobody ended up doing it, and it so happened that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
