Anyone have a AFCAD for the helopad at the White House that I could use for flight plans to and from Andrews?

Reckon the spooks in the CIA have already got their eyes on you, TwoLow, what with all this stuff about Air Force 1 and the White House and all. I'd keep looking over my shoulder if I were you...

There is no actual helipad on the south lawn, just grass. Here's a photo link:

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=eashington,+d.c.&ll=38.897120,-77.036530&spn=0.002...

Navaids? I can't say.

Rollerball, the CIA "spooks" probably couldn't  care less, it's the Secret Service that may be knocking on his door soon! Grin

I know I can make a grass helopad at a existing AFCAD but I don't know how to make a AFCAD from scratch and stick it on the south lawn  Smiley

Heck, I have yet to even find the white house in the game LOL. Some pilot I am. Is it even in the game?

It does seem like I saw a AFCAD for the white house somewhere but now it's killing me to remember where.

They are nice, but if you like that, go to this site:
http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/
and download NASA's version. It's even better in some cases!

As to the helipad, if you really have to have one there, (you can land there without one) open AFCAD.exe and under the "file"menu open a new airport file and create the helipad you want. You can use any name and designation not already used. Oh yes, the location should be 38 53.78N / 77 2.20W. Not exact, but close enough.

TwoLow,

Actually... these days....the flight sim sites are likely being quietly monitored by a LOT of "spooky" type governmental agencies like the NSA and god knows who.

Watch out for dark cars parked near your house with tinted windows and guys with sunglasses and wires running to their ears.   Grin

best,

I found a white house AFCAD last night in a AI helo file pack from the downloads section.

I wanted a AFCAD and not just 'land' at the white house maninly because I have trouble finding it and my helo skills are far from good so it takes all I can do just to fly straight and level without trying to find the White House  Cheesy  With the AFCAD I can look at the GPS and get a sense of where it is.

In fact this morning I took my first flight from the lawn to Andrews and landed 'decent' right in front of the AI AF1 parked there. Not bad if I say so myself. Its only about a 5 or 10 minute flight.

About the 'spooks' driving dark cars with dark windows, I drive a black 03 Mercury Marauder (looks like a Crown Vic) with 20% tint so I myself may look like a 'spook' LOL

If they do come over to question me I'll let them sit on the couch and watch me do some wild circles in Marine One that would probably sling Bush out the window. The helos are always on the verge of just going out of control aren't they?

BTW, I used Google maps to look at Andrews AFB and it gave me loads of info to make my AFCAD a little more accurate. You could even see the hangar for the two 747s.

While your at it, take a careful look at the airport on the northeast side of town at Palmdale, Califormia, and see what you find Wink

Yep, you found one of several carriers, most are on the east coast.

Souichiro, you looking at map.google.com or WorldWind? The SR-71 show up on the older pictures WorldWind uses but not on MapGoogle, unless I missed something! Wink

i found the F117 and the 71 and u2 on display upon closer examination  Grin

At Nellis I saw B1's, A10's, F-15, and the list goes on.

Over savannah georgia I saw a contrail and was hoping to follow it to a a/c in flight but the pictures fizzled out before i could find it. I would like to find a a/c in flight as that would truely be the easter egg LOL

OK, OK, I guess I could say that "gate guard" and museum displays don't count Smiley There are two in the WorldWind photos (older sat photos) that were still operational at the time.

Twolow, now try to find the Phillidelphia Naval yard, and take a look at the "mothball fleet" there, or better yet the "boneyard" at Davis Monmouth.

Thanks for the hints. I went to mojave airport and saw a commercial graveyard but didn't know where to look to find the military boneyard.

The shipyard was cool too...seen any submarines at dock yet with google?

Look at the southeast side of Tucson, AZ, just north of I-10. As for the Subs, google has this bad habit of going to low res photo at just the wrong time. The naval base at Bremerton Washington is mostly low res. I haven't looked at the other locations.
