...are planes when they come over maho beach at tncm. I was flying a dash 8 today, and the altitude callout said 100 when I flew over the beach, and I touched down right palst the number.

I used to fly in there on a regular basis. One day when we fueled up there, we were asking the line guy if he'd ever seen any accidents at the approach end (when you turn around to position for takeoff, you can see touchdown marks all the way to the fence!), he said that the Air France 747 clipped the fence two weeks prior, and dragged it down the runway!
Most of the time though, you're right on, about 50-100 feet.
I tried to drag it in a few times and still ended up at least 50' above the ground, crossing the fence.
Of course, in my airplane, the mains are only about 8 feet below me in the flare. In the 74', the mains are about 60' below the cockpit and quite a few feet behind.
.....so I loaded up the plane and moved to Middle-EEEE..........OIL..that is......

I thought that was an Airbus A340. Anyways, since then, they call them Air Fence.

...nope, I flew a 60 for a little bit after that, but now I'm shoehorned back in the cockpit of a Lear 31a. The boss is shopping though, and we've got our fingers crossed.

....I understood the guy to say that it was the 74' but line guys aren't always the most accurate source of info or it could've been another similar incident. I don't recall the airbus flying into St. Maarten. ???

Well you better get there soon since they have made plans to make the runway longer and destroy the beach. One story that comes to mind is a lady who sued the airport becasue she got jet blasted while watching an aircraft takeoff...ahhhh

Somehow....I knew that as soon as I typed those words, somebody would soon be posting a pic from Airliners', showing a 340 at St. Maarten.

Not sure about that. I have worked together with a company that designs airports (for school). They also did TNCM. Currently, they are doing the terminals, but so far, I haven't heart anything from the runway yet. Let's hope they keep it this way. When I come in touch with them again, I'm gonna ask them.
