as hagar pointed out, there are plenty of awesome campaigns. I think I've flown the stock campaign once... so, I don't even remember what it's like, but there are plenty high quality campaigns out there waiting for download. This game is fantastic! a must have Smiley. I got CFS3 for christmas a few years ago... but had to return it. not compatible with my ancient graphics card.  Roll Eyes

Only the Pacific?  Well CFS3 and 1 are only Europe.  And only west at that. Wink What more do you need than Zeroes and Corsairs in the Pacific?

Well I've got all the CFS range and love them, CFS2 is my favourite though.
I've got Il-2 and Forgotten Battles, okay but I'm not wild about them.
Janes WWII Fighters, old now but I still love it, great game play and some nice touches.

The Main difference between CFS3 and CFS2 is Graphics.... also, 5-10 bullets in CFS2 and your gone, about 20-35 in CFS3 and your gone.... CFS2 makes for excellent online play but about it I think, CFS3 is more interactive and looks much better, its all up to what you want, graphics and SP, CFS3, No graphics, baren world and semi decent aircraft and MP, CFS2..... Cheers, Gunny

CFS2 for me. CFS3 has better graphics but I like flying CFS2 more. And sometimes I even fire up CFS1 just to do some dogfighting.

CFS2 interface is better, easier to understand. Also it's less buggy. There are loads more downloads for CFS2, and just a better sim, imo.

CFS2

Advantages:
1. Familiar open architecture
2. Great flexibility
3. Even though the Pac Th. is only available, you can add in the other theaters as well.
4. Easy on your computer in terms of processing power

Disadvantages:
1. Lower graphics - but since CFS2 is 5 yrs old, our computers are powerful enough to take on any enhancements.
2. It's old

CFS3

Adv.
1. Greater graphics
2. Dynamic campaign
3. Open architecture

Disadv.
1. Open architecture is totally UNfamiliar and new - thus there is no compatibility with all other addons.
2. Dynamic campaign takes up loads of processing power due to the extensive number of AI to manage.
3. Serious and careful tweaks are needed just to reduce the stutters - unless you're willing to fly at 5 FPS.
4. World is seriously confined to just the ETO. However, there is the Korean Campaign pack. But that's it.
5. Unfamiliar architecture also results in limited number of any type of addon.

Verdict:

Depends on how you use the two.
