I'm not a name-dropper, but this was a very unusual evening for me...
Same friend who dragged me out Monday night had me join him Wednesday with VIP comps to the Joan Jett thing in Central Park... her new bass player is a good friend of his. I'm not a huge fan, but it was a great set- her new stuff is as solid as the old stuff. Talked a bit with said bassist and his wife; they're nice folks, and he did a great job... he used to be a guitar tech on the tour, and one night just before the show her bass player quit (!!), so she asked him if he could play it. Did a good job, so he was hired on the spot to take over on bass. Nice break, huh?
Didn't meet Joan (no backstage privileges), but we were also joined by another good friend of my friend who lives in the neighborhood- Felicia Collins, who plays guitar in the "Late Show" band. She's a fun person to hang out with... the three of us ended up having a few at a little karaoke bar nearby, and she got up to do a couple of numbers. Let's just say she stole the show- Girlfriend can sing as well as she plays! Yours truly did not take a turn- nowhere near drunk enough, as I had to drive home and it was a work night. Maybe next time...think I'll get my Tom Jones on...

Please no!  I almost died while listening to Tom Jones!  Not they way you'd think, it was on the radio and I almost got in a car accident.  But to have Tom Jone's voice be the last I ever heard?  *shivers*  Grin

Good on you for letting your hair down.  You're turning into quit the night owl.   8)

LOL!! That is scary!! If I ever do a Tom Jones song on karaoke night, I'll be sure to preface my song with that story... Cheesy

Hardly. That was the old me, esp. when I used to work evenings.
But it does come back to you- I was definitely in better shape Thursday morning than I was Tuesday morning... just takes practice, I guess.

I'm working tomorrow, so I'll probably be all revved up to go out tomorrow night ("I know, I'll spend the overtime I just earned! Yeah!!")

Well, if you're going to do that, make sure its "Shes a Lady" because thats the song that almost killed me.  Grin

Its always more interesting at night.  Like at Wal-Mart. Wink...  Though, thats a story for another time.  But, I'm planning on a night out tomorrow also.  8)  Just don't know what I'm planning to do.  I like to go with the wind so to speak.  Grin
