The company I work for is getting a ATR 42-500 tomorrow, to add to the one we already have to make our ATR count of 2 Grin

Cool part is that it was 2nd from our current ATR off the assembly line so the c/n will be one more than our current.

The only crappy part is that it will be quite dirty from it's recent c-check and guess who will have to clean it up Roll Eyes

I'll be shure to post some pics when it arrives

I dare you to actually say "woot!" when somebody mentions you're getting the new 42.  I DARE YA! Grin  See how long you still work there Cheesy

Sounds cool, all the ATRs are cool turboprops.  Better than the Dash 8s, when every time they land the landing gear almost shears off Shocked Shocked Tongue

My guess though is that the underside of the Dash 8 can't get damaged as much as our current ATR has.  Its so low to the ground, it just tears up the underside Shocked

The one that looks like a DC-3?  That's a turboprop (is it a turboprop version of the DC-3? methinks it is)? Or am I missing a joke here....

Yes - bingo.

Unlike other DC-3 turboprop conversions (notably the late 40's early 50s UK DART covnersions) the Basler conversions are rebuilds - fuselage extensions, wing rebuilds.
