I've lived on the freeware community for all my FS life, but I would like to venture into the payware market.
Usually I would not even think about getting payware if a relatively good freeware version of the aircraft is available, but...
Being a fan of military aircraft, I have become interested in two aircraft in particular:
1.) F-15C/D/E
2.) F-22
Anyone know of any good payware versions? I have found several varieties of F-15, but only one F-22 (DSB, which I hear is pretty bad, for both models).
Any recommendations from owners or people in the know? Basically, I'm asking for the impossible: I want something cheapy (<$20, maybe <$10), but also something quality. Think of those price/performance curves...

Theres the DSB F-15, and I dont know of any F-22's. Sorry but there arnt many virsions of those aircraft for Flight sim. However youll be pleased if you switch to LOMAC.

Yeah, thanks for the reply.
I checked out the DSB F-15. Though I can't test fly it, the VC looks terrible for a payware plane (I've seen freeware VC look many times better than that). Their (exterior) screenshots look good, but I know nothing else of the plane.
If you know more, please share.

The freeware F-15 C/J from Coral is the best one out there IMHO. It looks good, flys good. They are in the process of updating the whole package to version 2.0 and the new v/c looks pretty sweet.

DSB's YF-22 doens't interest me since it's not the production F-22 model.

Yep I belive dsb is way overpriced for the quality they give. Their vc's are the most mediocre payware vc's ive seen in my life. Although, their models arent so bad. They are still ove priced. Maybe they should take alphasim as an example. Their planes are cheap.
Sometimes. Freeware is the way to go.
cheers

Tis nothing wrong with Alphasim. Good planes at affordable prices. While they may not have overly functioning VCs they still are great looking, and the most recent releases are quite good

I know theres nothing bad about alphasim. I like em.
Their prices are perfect for the quality they give. Atleast, if the airplane they make is bad they say it with the price. Thats what I like about e'm. Some planes they have arent bad thought, like the pby catalina. I want that bird so badly.

Alphasim are fun!
I'm not that big on jets but if you want some really amazing warbirds I'm the man to ask.
Shockwave, any of the Wings Of Power range. They are superb!
RealAir Spitfire XIV, redefined aircraft add-ons!
Aeroplane Heaven Corsairs (I'm really getting into these! Kevin you've converted 2 Spitfire drivers to this now! Roger is also getting hooked, on the deck!)
Classic Warbirds P-51 (probably the most beautifully modelled P-51 out there)
There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Wow! All these responses!
Yeah, I was looking into DSB more, and:
1.) The DSB F-15 3D model is impressive. It is very pretty. However, the exclusion of any sort of 2D panel and the extremely half-assed VC (I agree with you marick626, just from looking at the screens) and the AIM-7s on the wing stations (???) really turns me off.
2.) Drake. Yeah, I realized the DSB Raptor isn't the F-22A. But that's alright, since they do advertise it as 'YF-22.' But then again, I'm not interested either. The VC also looks rightly bad. I wonder if they have working thrust vectoring.
I guess I'm just gonna wait on the Coral V2.0. I currently have the V1 Coral, and it is a nice plane. I checked out the screens for V2, and, while none of Coral's VC side panels seem to be modelled, it still looks a whole lot better than DSB's (It also looks better than the Abacus VC). The 2D Panels also looks great.
As for the F-22, I dont really care, as long as I get a nice F-15. And the Coral F-15 V2 seems like its the best out there in the near future.
Well, I was ready to get some payware. Now I've got nothing to get. I was checking out F-117As today, and found there were two available models, one from Perfect Flight and the other from FS2x.
So what are your opinions on these two models? Both have convincing panels and VC, and are both excellent models. FS2x seems to provide a lot more information on their F-117. So any suggestions?
ozzy72:
I've actually been wanting to get the RealAir Spit for a long time now. Its just pretty expensive that is.
Thanks

hatter, sometime down the pipeline (and I use the word sometime meaning probably a ways off) Captainsim will be releasing the F-15 which from a couple of shots they had of it a while back looked stunning.

That sounds great coming from Captain Sim. I hope they do a C or a D, or provide all the variants. Any links to those photos?
So, any word on the F-117?
There's just too much good payware to consider.
