of course you can load any route into the FMC with or without a SID STAR.

Okay, well first you are going to need a route either through http://simroutes.com/ or route finder http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/.

So lets say I want to fly from Toronto (CYYZ) to Montreal (CYUL): CYYZ YSO J546 YOW J553 YMX STAR CYUL. First you'll need to put in your departure and arrival airport into the FMC which, I believe, is under RTE. After that you will enter your first fix, in my case  the Sudbury VOR, YSO. To do this go into legs and just type in the depending VOR or waypoint. So for me, after I type in the Sudbury VOR I'll type in the Ottawa VOR (YOW.) *Note: I ignored jetways because I am not as familar w/ the PMDG FMC as I am w/ the PSS, so I'm not 100% sure on how to put those in. But if you use Route Finder it'll give you the proper VOR's and waypoints to follow to stay on that specific jetway...anyways, after YOW you'll type YMX just as we have been doing. Once your whole route is typed into the legs just click activate and it should work for you.

If I missed something or said something wrong be sure to correct me. I haven't flown the PMDG in a very long time and am basically translating the knowledge I have of the PSS Airbus MCDU/FMS to the Boeing.

  Hello!

Many thanks for your kind and detailed reply .In fact i will be more concise and i'll go deeper into the difficulty that i find on my "route"...Well,i built a flt plan with the assistance of "fs build2"from lfpo (Orly) to lfbd (bordeaux) evrything ok and, as untill now, i can t manage to export it into pmdg i manually enter datas into  the fmc,i then selected sid ptv9v and its ok to fill into the page rte then there is a route named un857 from pirog to lmg where star lmg4 begings so,i enter pirog right after ptv in lskr of fmc,ok,then lskl via...shows direct but i want to select via un 857 and this is whent i want to enter this route that i have the answer "invalid entry"which makes me think this route un 857 is not known into the data base but of course i may be wrong there also can be an other anomaly .What do you think ?
Ps sorry for my english which is not so good.
PPS my fmc is updated with 0506 the last available i could find

Last,or perhaps it not ok with fsbuild plan as i far as i can see in rte finder there is no way point such as ptv or pirog on un857 .

Many thanks for your interest in my problem.

Do you have any waypoint after UN857?  If so I believe you need a conecting waypoint after UN857.  Did you type UN 857, or UN857, witout the space?  I had something similar to this happened so I just skipped it or manually entered the waypoints on the UN857 track.  Another thing you entered UN857 on the left side of the FMC right?

Smileyhello
Thank you for yr reply, well, yes i type un857 without space and what is strange is that i don t have in return not in data base but invalid entry. Here what it looks like:

     lsk left                                    lsk right

  -    ptv9v                                      po082 -
  -    ptv9v                                          ptv  -
  -   direct                                       pirog   -

then want to insert un857 instead of "direct" and it ends as" invalid entry"

Ps: i know that un857 is in data base because if i try to entered it when adjacent lsk is empty and it worked ,i mean if both left and right lsk are empty then i can enter un857 into the left lsk but of course it will be impossible to enter way point in right lsk as we usually enter wpt first.

You have to enter UN857 first and ONLY  in the right column.

Any route that has numbers in it must go on the left side in the FMC since it represence on the waypoints along that route for example.

-direct yankee-
-un855 fred-
-direct smith-

That means every waypoint from YANKEE to FRED that is on track UN857 will be included.

OO, not sure then, try posting in avsim.com forum in the PMDG support area.  Other than that can't help unless you can manually enter every waypoint in between.

30 minutes to an hour later of button pushing you can finally take off (one thing I dislike about legitimately designed FMCs)
