Alright I know my computer isnt perfect, but I have less then 6 month old Creative 2.1 sound system, and at higher Volumes my music gets REALLY Distorted.... I have no idea what is wrong with it..... I turned acceleration off and some help, but does anyone else have suggestions? Cheers, Gunny
EDIT: I have pushed these speakers pretty hard too, at its a rattle type distortion could they be blown?

It could be that they are blown but its pretty umprobable because they work (relatively). The problem could maybe be the sound card. Overal, creative is a very good company and their speackers tend to last more than a year withouht problems (Definetaly more).
Try to contact them or just maybe you havent downloaded necesary drivers.
you can find it all here.
http://www.creative.com/support/
I Still use my 3 year old Dell speackers and they work perfectly well.
Hope you can fix your problem.

If they are only sounding distorted when you crank the volume up, then you are probably just overpowering those speakers.
Checking what the card can put out as far as watts and impedence and compare to what those speakers can handle.
If this be the case, a stonger set of speakers are in order.

As 526 mentioned...
There is always the possibility that if you continually overload speakers with more power, (Watts), than they were designed to handle you will permanently distort the speaker cone which will result in the speech coil rubbing against the magnet.
With prolonged abuse the insulation on the speech coil wires will rub through resulting in complete failure.
This was a very common occurrence on speakers designed with paper cones.
Don't overload speakers with more power than they are designed to handle...
(..unless you are cranking up your Fender 'Strat through a valve Marshall amp...8)...!
LOL...!
Cheers...!

Would that be set on volume '11'?
I gotta a Strat and Les Paul, and play them through a Hughs & Kettner Edition Tube. Sweet sound, darn sweet.

The way you are cranking up the volume I would recommend a pair of ear defenders before you go completely deaf....
...!
LOL...!
Continuous exposure to loud noise will
permantly
damage your ears....
...which is why sensible old Fozzer always wears ear plugs when blasting through the countryside on his
very noisy
Bike... 8)...
...
...!
...and the amp volume for my Fender Strat' and Hammond organ is only turned up to No 2, so as not to annoy my neighbours...or damage my earoles...
...!
LOL...!
Paul.....pardon...?

Loud noise doesnt effect me anymore.... I play in band so that could be why.... but I dont mind if I go deaf some day and besides I'm not the one who punched the speakers through the floor (talk to my mother about that) Cheers, Gunny

I am running some modestly priced Altec Lansing 5.1 speakers. With my games I don't turn them up too high, but when I load up a music CD, watch out walls. So far, and this is going on three years with these speakers, they have handled everything with great quality.

You can usually pick up some 1 metre high, heavy as lead, wood cabinet, circa 1982 SANYO's at the op shops, no-one has room for them anymore, but they sound AWESOME on the desktop!
Technical installation note: Proximity to a monitor usually causes some wild color fluctuations on the display due to the strong magnetic field from these monsters...................... gives a real '70's effect
