The laptop comp I was using was a Dell Inspirion 5150, this summer I was using FS2004 in ATL and taking off in a EMB 170, the screen went blank then a message in DOS mode showed a message saying it has been shut down due to thermal overload.
Well I don't have central air in my house and it was about 85 degrees outside that day.
So the solution? Build a new comp just for FS2004 and nothing else!
So I was at a computer store and found a cool case I liked, brought it for $40.

Here's what came:
480W power supply
ASUS ATX form factor motherboard
Intel Pentium 4, 800MHz FSB 3.2 GHz
Kingston HyperX 1GB of RAM
Western Digital 74GB Raptor Hard drive (10,000 RPM, SATA connection)
Geforce FX 6800Ultra overclocked edition video card (most expensive part of all)
Installed everything in one night, put in a hard drive cooler (has 2 small fans on the side, 2 temp sensors),
a 48X CD-ROM drive from a junked comp,
I counted the cooling fans in the computer:
2 power supply fans
2 hard drive cooler fans
3 case fans (including one large fan for the jet fan)
1 for the video card
1 for the CPU
9 cooling fans total!
Boot up the system, transfer all the files over from the laptop, added more traffic, set every slider to the max, works awesome!!!
Now here's the Jet engine computer running 8)
