First of all, terrorists don't usually threaten these days. I would guess though, that if they did, the city would be evacuated. Also- STOP GIVING THEM IDEAS.

....Wow!! That's ironic. I had nearly the same thought the other day.
Except, instead of a 747 and terrorists, it was my own fleshy, pressure vessel.....some brats and beans...kimchee.....a bunch of apples(with the skin)and a couple of pints of Guiness.
.....and instead of the populace of some large city evacuating in a state of panic and mayhem, it was my wife and children fleeing the house.....
Ironic, I tell you.......I-ronic!
.....so I loaded up the plane and moved to Middle-EEEE..........OIL..that is......

I've always been affraid to fart inside a pressurized airplane for fear that the smell would linger and be more potent due to the thinner air... kind of like a rich mixture. Any thoughts?

Good question. My own field tests have confirmed that airliner seat cushions are pretty efficient at absorbing sound and noxious fumes (sorry, but at cruise altitude, the cabin pressure is about 8,000 MSL equivalent- things can get a little painful. But if there's someone sitting next to me, I'll usually make for the head before letting fly).
But should the little green monster escape, it'd probably not be fully, um, appreciated, because I think the human nose is less efficient at higher altitudes. Also, pressure hulls in airplanes are not airtight- there's a relief valve at the tail that lets air trickle out (that's how they maintain the desired pressure); it's not like you'd be stuck with the stink...

.....I got news for ya'....... It's not always "in the tail".
On the Lear's(from the 23 all the way to, at least, the 55) it's on the pressure bulkhead, immediately forward of the F/O's feet!
I couldn't wait to upgrade to Captain and get out of that right seat. EVERYTIME someone beefed, I knew it!
