Just thought I'd drop a line in to tell you all about the best - THE BEST plane I ever downloaded by a chap called Rick Piper. The aircraft is a BAC Hunting jet provost and there is a link to it from the downloads section.
Good going Rick

Rick is a brilliant modeller, have you tried his Chipmunk or Meteor trainer? Also FAB!

A lot of Ricks stuff is here, among the most popular downloads! If you want to see what I mean wait for it to appear then go and check the screenshot forum
If you can find a non-Rick plane on the front page you must have got there before people had finished downloading
Now how to convince Rick to employ me as a beta-tester....

I think Rick's working on a couple of bits and pieces for the Air Atlantique project at the moment...
[edit] I hadn't noticed Rick's now updated his site to include the AA models...

Patience Andrew, Rick is one of the few designers I think is worth waiting for. You know that delays only mean he is making it perfection and that your salivary gland is going to go into hyperdrive when it is finally released
The question is who will get the first shots of it in the freeware screenie forum (probably Lemoncat), and how many pages will it fill in the screenie forums?

Felix, you intimated that Rick Piper would be releasing something new to us presently. Can I ask do you know anything more - like a release date? As I am sitting here trembling with anticipation waiting on his next release.

I believe that his next release is very closely related to one of his previous releases. From the development shots I've seen, I expect it will be the BAC Strikemaster, close relative of the Jet Provost...

Hi Chaps
Remind me not to ask any of you lot what this weeks national lottery numbers will be
Next release will be the Monster from Coventry.
The Armstrong Whitworth Argosy 200 series.
Then 2 variants of the 100.
Then strikemaster. (lost my cammo master & had to start paint again
Many thanks for your kind words guys.
Now i need to find a Hat big enough for my head
Regards
Rick (thank Felix for sorting my login problems)
Ozzy: beta testers is a strange request???.
i only use a few now as 99.9% of people that have asked either miss 99.9% of the bugs or don't send feedback. (I know where most of the bugs are but hope they see them too).
I don't always make exiting models, there are about 10 on the go at the moment that i have no idea when they will be ready.
I also make big old English stuff which not many flightsimmers have much interest in so those will be boring for you guys.
Not much point ever making British payware as the market is way too small to make anything so they stay free as i have zero interest in anything non British.
(I like non British Aircraft just have no interest in making them)

Hi Charlie
It was planned to release the Strikemaster a while back
June ish for sure but i lost a Hardrive a few months before without realising my Cammo master texture was on there.
I have the saudi one ready but it needs the RNZAF one to make it worth the upload.
I also had to redo some of the model as i lost the strikemaster i had ready last year.
There are some minor visual mods for the JP T5 too in the works (mainly sorting a few of the shape anomilies in the model) o-lies i-lies who knows?
Regards

I have a lot of new stuff to get upto speed with FSDS3
so i would not expect much this side of Christmas.
Lots in progress but nothing ready to new standard.
Each one gets harder and i only just lost my "L plates" in FSDS2

Rick I have to be the worlds most difficult beta-tester. I literally take the plane to the limit and back! Then I try and find any problems and promptly send whinging emails about the least little thing!
For a plane/panel to get my approval it HAS to work and work properly not merely look pretty....
Oh and I like to test inverted flight characteristics rather more than is healthy (according to everyone else but I like to know where mother Earth is in relation to my head, normally about 6 feet away)
If you ever need a fussy bugger for beta-testing I'm your man

I came really close to having 3 Minis in the cargo bay.
But framerates would suffer too much
They used an Argosy to ferry the real cars out for the film making and the Coach.

I'm not sure if they will end up as cargo yet as i'm getting a little carried away with the FSDS3 beta
Ignore the Driver as he's an Argosy crewman & temporary & the models are very much a work in progress.

The Venom was going to be a commercial project AFAIK/IIRC. Unfortunately I thinks one of the team left for some reason or another taking some (quite a lot) important work with him (ie, so they couldn't just use it without his permission), and the project stagnated.
Rick however does have one or two nice freeware offerings on the way.

I can tell you categorically that the model was built by our own Brian Franklin (whom someone earlier in this thread has had a pop at) and the gauges were made by Jim Cooper another partner in the company.
Rick helps an awful lot of developers in little ways here or there but the vixen is not his.

If you think that the Skysim modellers are (rightfully) worthy of praise, please do so either in a separate thread, as they deserve one of their own.
Let's keep this thread focused on Rick Piper who, in my opinion, not only provides excellent models, but, as has been noted, helps other modellers as well.

As some of you on this forum may know, Rick has now been working for Skysim for some time and as a result we are very close to releasing his first model under the Skysim banner. We are very pleased the the T1 Hawk which will be released in the Red Arrows Livery on the 1 July.
I do hope you will continue to support one of worlds greatest developers (in my opinion) so he can carry on producing the fantastic aircraft he does.

I"ve been following the progress of the T.1 Hawk for some time in several forums.
Rick has (as improbable as it sounds) outdone himself. We (somewhat tongue in cheek) had a discussion as to whether one of the screenshots was in fact a photo edited to look like a screenshot, or a real screenshot.
My real congratulations go to the Skysim genius that convinced Rick to do a model without a propeller!
