They are imports over here. No models are made for this country. so being left hand drive bumps up the price, also the are 3.0L + engines which in this country can also shove the insurance right up.

Smileyover here in the uk its all about age... when i was 19 i got my first peugeot 205 gti. now these are excellent cars, they handle as well as if not better than a lot of 'performance' cars i have driven, and in standard form my 1.9 would hit 0-60 in 7.8 seconds and a top speed of 124 mph.    not bad when youre 19, but my insurance cost me £1200 per year!!
then there are the other cars ive owned- tvr 390i, e30 m3, capri 3.0, etc, and the insurance was a killer on them all....
but now im 25, have full no claims discount and im driving a stripped out, roll caged 205 with a supercharger fitted, plus about 3 grands worth of suspension, brakes, etc and my insurance for this last year?              £212.64 fully comprehensive... Wink
