I don't know how many of you have seen this since it's on "another" forum, but one of the great freeware designers, Rob Barendregt, has been ripped off by DSB Design.

Search the SimV library and you will find numerous excellent payware quality gauges that Mr. Barendregt has designed and given us for free.  His work has been stolen and "copyrighted" by DSB Design.

I can not express my disgust.  Boyoyott, email DSB, whatever is necessary.

If I haven't ever heard of a case for a boycott, this is it. From the sound of things, this isn't the first case in which DSB has done this.

What a damn shame  Undecided , I hope that other makers of add ons don't get discouraged. Alll of the work done is very much appriciated.

Keep up the good work,
Marlin

Before you guy's go shooting from the hip, rather wait until the facts are in!

From what Rob has said on Avsim and SOH, DSB Design are only the Distributors.
The actual model was made by Sigma!

Rob's Post on SOH

If you read then entire thread from AVSim "only the distributors" sounds a lot like our friend Fergie says.

DSB is a reputable company...and they aren't even the only distributor of this product.

That said...I described using this method of VSTOL flight back in the CFS 1 days...I remember asking people to build me a flight model that would allow the exact same thing in the exact same way...only difference was using WEP instead of AB thrust.

This may simply be a case of two, or more, designers finding the same solution to a technical problem.

Let's cool down and wait and see how it plays out a bit before calling for anyboy's head.

Hey Silverfox,

I just send you a PM, please read it when you get a chance.  And no it isn't about the Viper, but I could send one if you need a nudge.  Wink

It sounds to me like Sigma is the problem, if DSB have an ounce of credibility they'll be investigating this and IF it is a case of piracy of Robs work they'll take it off their books and take some kind of action against Sigma.
All we can really do is watch what happens, slinging rocks at one another and screaming isn't going to help.
I just hope Rob gets this sorted, as he has made great contributions to this hobby and I'd hate to see him quit.

From reading parts of the (exceedingly huge) thread of Avsim it appears that DSB and Sigma are both DBs companies - DSB now just being the "distribution" part of DBs company .

However, just because Sigma developed the package in question, it doesn't mean he made all the components of it, and from what I understand it was a sub-developer who provided DSB/Sigma with the XML file in question, which appears to be a copy of one of Rob's files, so I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet. I'm sure this has happened before but people have got away with it...
