I know they wouldn't be flying it, but its kinda hard question, whats the safety records compared to the others 747,757,767 etc.
Cheers,
All this crash talk doesn't really bother me at all, especially aircraft investigation, but if i figured it was going to be a long flight, i would check what it was like.

Jimbo if you spend your life worrying about these things, you'll never get on a plane. My advice dont watch these programs. I have seen a light aircraft crash infront of me, a helicopter slam into the ground nose first barely 200 yards from me. I wouldn't hesitate to get in either simply because i know these are rare accidents that just dont happen every day. Your aircraft will fly across the atlantic without so much as a hiccup, you'll get off, completely forgetting about those things, you'll enjoy your holiday, you'll return to the airport wishing you didnt have to, fly right back across that wide ocean without a problem, get off the plane at home, and wonder why you even asked about this.

Bl**dy heck Craig was you speaking from the heart!
I'm in no worries what so ever, its jus the Fact that im trying to raise the issue that why are people trying to make travelling by aircraft unsafe???
I've been in them big things MANY times and im NOT even going to let this bother me!
If i was afraid of airplanes, i wouldn't be interested in them, hence i would't join this forum, or be a "simmer" or even book a trial flight.
All im basically asking is WHY people are deterimined to bring the bad aspects out of airtravel?
This is by the far the best way to travel!
Cheers

You'll find the weather very much to your liking - lots of rain in the afternoons (and some mornings). Bring raincovers, umbrellas .... and of course, sunscreen, because if it isn't raining, it's bloody HOT!

Oh thanks....
Its gonna be a early flight i think, havent checked the tickets, but thats the time we usually have them!
Pitty we cant meet up felix because of the dodgey - horrid flights we happen to always face....
So is it dry and "nice" at the moment, or Humid and warm?
Thanks.
p.s whatever the weather, us brits are always complaining about it!

Hi Jimbo. I missed your point.
The media do these things, because it brings in ratings. Who is going to watch a program about a perfectly normal uneventful flight? only geeks like us

Its ok, im sorry i got you all the wrong idea!....(time to wake up james)! I suppose.....I'd much rather watch a Documentry about a aircraft, such as the creation of the A380 on channal 4 a week or so back, brill program!
Everyone has a hobby, and mine happens to be aviation, so i dont reckon we are "geeks", we could perfectly say the same things about other hobbys.
One thing that does annoy me is when somebody calls me a "geek or somthin" just because i like to "sim" or interested in aviation, i ask them if they have a hobby, and 7/10, they dont!
Cheers
jimbo!

In direct response to your question: Humid and hot right now, drying up to "nice" closing this evening with WET.

Not entirely true - 7 crew were killed when an A330 crashed at Toulouse in 1994 (11 years to the day in fact - 30th June 1994). Believe it had been overshooting from an asymetric approach...
Thats the only blemish on its record though...

Statistically, one is more likely to get hurt in a car crash going to or from the airport than on the flight. Towards proof:
Last time I flew commercial was Newark- Las Vegas.
Nonstop out; two legs coming back. That's three different aircraft, almost coast-to-coast, twice. Most hazardous part of the trip: getting sideswiped by a cab as we were turning into the car rental return drivewayat the LV airport on our way to our flight home!!
Nobody hurt, but delay caused by the accident caused us to miss our flight, which is why I had to opt for the next flight, which had a stop and plane-change in Cleveland.
