&^%$# DVD Writers! (Read 96 times)

Here's one for the books. I removed my HP DVD writer to install a new Dual Layer drive a couple months back. When there is no disk in the drive, it reads DVD-RW Drive (H:) under My Computer. When I put a blank disc in, it changes to read CD Drive (H:) and I cannot access the disc. I re-installed the old DVD Burner adnd I still get the same thing!

This is really pi$$ing me off! Angry

For the record, the master/slave settings are correct...

Windows 7 Home Premium

Try uninstalled the drivers of the old dvd-rom in the device manager before instaling the new one.

Here's the procedure I use for swapping device:
-goto device manager, delete driver and device
-remove device
-install new device
-install any drivers, if necessary.
