Very difficult to pick a favourite as most of the acts were brilliant, but i've narrowed it down to 2!
Madonna or Pink Floyd.
But i can't decide who was best.
Rob.
P.S. edited to say i didn't go, i watched it on TV.

Sadly couldnt go to any of them. Of all the acts i saw on TV, Either Green Day in Berlin, Bon jovi in philly and stevie wonder also in philly would count as my fav. However the best moment for me to see, was the Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff back together again. It doesnt happen often and they are a great team.

I think the most historical reunion was Pink Floyd...without a doubt. Their last concert with Roger Waters was in 1983!!! They were amazing...especially 'Wish you were here', my favourite Pink Floyd song.
Also The Who rocked!!! As always, 'Who are you' was outstanding...does anybody know if they also played 'Baba O'Riley'? If so, they didn't broadcasted it. Allas because personally I think that's the best song ever made.
The opening in Hyde Park was also one I'll never forget: Paul McCartney and U2 with 'Sgt Pepper...'...awesome! 8) 8)

I still don't see the fuss over Pink Floyd. They were almost impossibly boring...
The Who were amazing. My favourite act was Velvet Revolver. 8)

The sheer fact a band that last played in 1981 (not 83) in that line up with Roger Waters, were asked to play in 2005 says it all about their ability and the musical legacy they have created.
IMO, Pink Floyd just demonstrated how far upstarts like Velvet Revolver have yet to go to achieve greatness.
From the point of view of the crowd at Hyde park, Pink Floyd stole the show.
If Velvet Revolver are still performing after 38 Years, then I may be impressed......
Pink Floyds first album release was "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" August 5 1967
You have to look very hard to better that record.

Dunno...there was just no passion or energy from them.
As for VR...they're a well established band. They're a merging of Guns N' Roses and Stone Temple Pilots. But the style of music isn't as popular now, but it will come around again.
Now...why weren't AC/DC asked to play? That would have been really amazing! Now there's a legendary band that still sells records, and has passion and energy. They're recording a new double album right now, BTW.
I wish they had shown the Audislave set from Germany too...they got a 9 song set according to AOL! Including Killing In The Name, which is a RATM cover (Audioslave is the RATM band with a different singer) and Cornell isn't very good at singing it, but it's still a kick ass song, 'F*ck you, I won't do what you tell me!' But he does do a brilliant acoustic version of 'Black Hole Sun' from his old band Soundgarden.

No passion? re-forming after a 24 year split?
Roger Waters making a point of expressing his emotion of playing again with "these guys"
passionate, professional they showed the rest how its really done.
Each to his / her own, for me, Live 8 was Pink floyds Grand Swansong.

Saw it on TV, really enjoyed seeing Floyd and The Who, however VR were a huge dissapoitment, they can, have and should have done much better
IMHO Wieland was a joke, while Slash was trying to play an outro solo he had to come along with a mike and a megaphone then stand right next to Slash thus drowning him out

VR are 3/5's Guns n' Roses so looking at it from that POV they've been at it for 18 years and have had more than thier fair share of hits. 8)

I meant in the music...for me it was just...well boring. I need something from music that they can't give me. Nothing against them, it's just my taste in music.

...and you're calling Pink Floyd boring? AC/DC to me is one of most redundent bands that has ever existed, you can play most any of their songs out of the same 3 chords, I could never figure out why people thought they were so great, I eventually came to the conclusion that most music fans are simple minded and more than three chords in a song confuses them.
I never got into AC/DC, they had a couple of cool tunes before Bon Scott died, but after that it has all sounded pretty much the same, however, like someone else said, each to his own.
