Hello all...!
Is anyone else having problems with trying to download files from Avsim's library...?
I have been a registered member with them for years, but recently, (since changing to Mozilla Firefox?), I am constantly asked for my name and password before being allowed to download a file!
I enter my usual details but they are never accepted.
I have registered to their Forum to post the complaint, but my details are not accepted there either...!!
This was the message...>>>
**********************************************
I've been a member of Avsim since the year dot and have never had any problems logging on. In fact my log-in name always appears in the main menu and automatically gives me access to the file library, but when trying to download a file recently it asks for my log-in details yet again, which I type in, and it refuses to accept them every time...!
I have recently changed my browser to Mozilla Firefox from Internet Explorer to prevent spyware, adware, etc, but since the change I am no longer able to download files from the library..!
I have enabled cookies in Firefox, fom Avsim, (why?) but it does not cure the problem.
NOTE: That I have no problems using Firefox with Simviation and Flightsim, etc, or any other Site...!
There suddenly appears to be a different procedure for obtaining downloads recently from Avsim, requiring a name and password every time..which at the moment fails to work..!
...any ideas...?
Cheers all....
Paul.
(Hereford. England).
This always appears on the main Menu each time I connect to Avsim:
"Logged in as: fozzer (Paul L. Fosbery)"
**********************************************
Something has recently changed in the library department.
This is the annoying little box which now appears when trying to download a file...>>>
The name and password fail every time...!
...which also means that I cant get access to Avsim's complaints department...!!!

I've tried using Internet Explorer instead...same problemo...!!
Just E-Mailed the Big Chiefs there to see if they can suggest something....!
It is a fact that something has recently changed on the site involving this pop-up, log-in box which did not appear previously when requesting a download...
...!
...more news later...

I give up...!
...I really do...!
Got an E-Mail back from Avsim suggesting deleting my firewalls....
so...
I un-ticked my Win XP firewall, closed down my Zone Alarm, set all my security to zero, allowed everyone and his pit bull terrier to supply me with their cookies, left my front-door key on top of the door-mat with a welcome sign..etc...etc..
...still absolutely no luck in getting Avsim to accept my log-in details, (even tho' it tells me that I am logged-in!), to allow downloads from the library...
...!
I've even tried IE instead of Firefox....still no luck...!
There is defiantly something different recently with Avsim, compared with any other sites I visit...
...!
Buggar...!
Cheers all...!
Paul....Avsim is now a no-no for downloads with XP and Firefox...
...!
P.S. Next step...use my standby Win '98SE and IE set-up...see if that works...?

Way- hey...
...!
Dear Ozzy has finally sorted the problem out for me... 8)...!
It goes like this...
My Getright downloader is automatically set to run in my System Tray during boot-up.
When I then request a file from Avsim there appears to be a problem when Avsim then tries to connect to my "already open" downloader sitting in my Tray...!
If I remove Getright from my tray, and allow Avsim to start it automatically when requesting a file, the problem disappears...!!!
Ozzy reckons it is due to a conflict between Avsims IP address and Getright's IP address while both programs are trying to connect with each other....
...!
....that's when it becomes a mystery to me...
...!
LOL...!
The strange thing is, it only occurs with Avsim...!
Thanks, Ozzy...
