PCI -E Mobo for Socket 754 cpu? (Read 141 times)

Does anyone know if you can get a PCI-express mobo for AMD socket 754. Looking at buying one for future to get the lonest life from my AMD3400 when I want a new graphic card.

1: dead end
2: memory bottleneck

Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones), Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and An-24RV&&&&AI flightplans and repaints can be found here

Yes, it may be "dead end" as much as my Sct 478 P4 is, but, I can invisage me doing a similar thing to get myself a PCI-E Board & GFX Card.

If you want a cheap solution, go ahead

I have the plans to upgrade to a dualcore if BIOS allows it in the future... you need a 939 for that

All current 939 mobo support dual cores.

BTW, why would you want a PCI-express mobo for an old 3400. Even a fx-55 can't feed enough info to make PCI-express an advantage.

AGP is more than enough for such a CPU. I seriously recommend you upgrade your CPU and mobo to sock 939.

Thanks Weather_Man for the link. I think maybe the MSI m/b cause the price seems pretty good.

I never buy the latest and greatest. I refuse to pay the top dollar that these items attract.
I'm quite happy to wait 12 months or so , or wait until the product is about to disapear to snap up that bargin !

This is what this post is about. My current system's weak point is the ATI 9600xt AGP grapic card that I have and when I want to upgrade that I think I should buy a PCI-E type graphic card that I get then to reuse later when I upgrade again to the socket 939 format. I can then pass down my old components to my low end pc's that I have for the rest of my family.(common m/b socket etc)

This is democracy at work -- When I get an upgrade , there is a filter down affect , so everybody then gets a upgrade!!! .

This keeps the "Minister for Finance" (wife!) very happy. Grin

(note - for happiness for all you must keep the tech details to a minimum so they don't feel under - upgraded!!!)--besides this then allows more money to be available for the flight simulator ( another story that consumes as much money as upgrading PC's!!)

But we wouldn't have it any other way cause this stuff is SO much FUN!!!! Grin
