Well, it has been an interesting day. Yesterday, my grandma moved into a retirement home near my house and as I was carring things, I noticed that there was a flier on their window that said there was a car show today. Unfortunately, I had to go to a wedding earlier so I didn't think I would be able to go. When I got home from the wedding, the show had been going for 2 hours but I decided to grab my car and take it down there. Anyway, it was a smaller car show, about 50-60 cars but there were some nice ones. Anyway, here are a few pics from the show.
OK, I know that I have posted several pics of my car before but this one is special-so let me explain it. When I got to the show (2 hours late, it started at 11:00 am and I got there a little after 1:00pm), I quickly dusted the car and made the interior look as good as a I could. So, after that-I went up to my grandma's appartment and told her that I was there and intvited her to come and join me next to my car. So, I left her appartment (she said she would join me a little later) and I went down to look at the other cars. I waundered around for a little while and retured to my car. When I got there, I noticed a little piece of paper that had been placed under my windshield wiper. I picked it up and it said "
Congratulations
, Your Car Has Been Selected For A Sponsor Award." I was very happy, my car had never won an award at a car show so this was a first time for me. Usually at the car shows the businesses that sponser it get one trophy each to give out to the car that they like. Anyway, it is usually a small plaque-so I was happy. At the end of the show, they handed them out. When I went up to get my trophy, I was shocked when I saw it. It wasn't a small plaque but a large trophy about 2-3 feet tall! Anyway, this is a shot of me standing next to my 1969 Camaro proudly holding my trophy at the end of this show
This is an original 1960 Chevrolet Corvette that had a 283ci V8 engine in it with 2 4-bbl carbs. It was a very nice car, one of my favorites at the show (and I'm not even a Corvette person).
This was my favorite car at the show (except for my car of couse). It is a 1937 Ford 3-Window Coupe Hot Rod. It had a very nice black paint job with a beautiful pin stripe. Under the hood was a high performance Chevy (yes, Chevy) 350ci V8 engine.
Here is a 1930 Ford Model A Hot Rod. As you can see, it has a very nice red paint job. It also featured a high performance V8 engine under the hood (I believe the engine was a Chevy 350 but I'm not sure).
Here is a completely original 1937 Ford Pickup. This old truck was just awesome-there isn't much else that I can say about it.
Anyway, those are some of the photos I took at this show. Let me know what you think.

Making those old Ford's into hot rods is a very common practice. Most people who do it use a Chevy small block engine, Chevy transmission and a Ford 9 inch rear end. The reasoning (usually) behind this is part avilability and cost. The Chevy 350 is the most common V8 engine in the world and it has been used in everything from the high output sports cars to trucks. As a result, there are far more performance parts avilable for it than any Ford engine, plus they are much cheaper to build. A Chevy transmission is used (in this case, a T/H350 automatic, because they bolt right up to the Chevy motor). The Ford 9 inch rear end is popularly considered the hardiest rear end for hot rodders (some perfer the Chevy 12-bolt but most go with the Ford 9in). Thios is exactly how this car was set up.
Although it was not original, they had done a very nice job and everyone was impressed with it. It was a beautiful car. Some people are die hard originality enthuasiasts, but I really like older hot rodded Ford's. They had one right next to it that was original (it was a 5-window though) and it was really cool as well.
