I finnally got a little time and extra cash to continue on my 3 monitor setup. The second monitor was easy. A friend gave me an adaptor to plug the second into the flat screen port. cant remember what its called. Loaded up flightsim and it works beautiful! Now here is where I need some advise. Installing the second vid card. My main card is a radeon 9500 128, running the 2 monitors.  It is plugged into the AGP slot. I managed to find a radeon 9250 256 PCI for 80$! It had to be PCI because I only have 1 AGP. How do I go about installing this? I tryed installing it but the computer will not detect it. Is there some special way of doing this? Is there any kind of program needed? I also have a radeon 9550 256 AGP I could swap out in place of the 9500 if recomended. The thing is, I never could get it to work or look as good as the 9500. Strange! Anyway, I appritiate any help yall can provide!

Hi

You will need Windows XP

Some PCI cards will not do multy monitors you may have one?

It seems to me I read some place that some
PCI 1- slots don't do vidio cards, try installing the card in another PCI slot.

I'm using a 128 meg ATI  AGP Card
and 3 - 64 meg Radion 7000 PCI cards and they all work great.

Just plugged them in & installed there drivers.

Hope you get it figured out

I have a question: When you are running off of more than one vid. card, do you ever get a lag type effect on one card, but not another? ...Hope that makes sense.

lag effect.

Only when moving a panel from screen 1 too 2 - 3 or 4.

Only for a second, then everything works great.

It's normal

I'd also sugest you empty your garbage can & defrag your computer.

Then run enditall befor flying it helps a lot.
I use the old enditall as the new one kills my computer
on me.

Hope your making a little headway.

Well that did it! Switched it to a different slot and it detected on bootup. working great! I did have to drop my FS display settings a bit and lower the framerates, but it still looks good. Besides, I never could see the difference between 10 or 50 FPS. 3 monitors really adds a whole new level to simming! Who knows, maybee someday ill build a real sim pit with projectors and all! (when I can afford it)! Ill post a screenshot of my setup as soon as I get my camera back from a friend. Thanks for the help everyone!

What sims do you fly? What are the monitors used for (2 scenery, 1 guages, all scenery, etc), do they work the same in all sims?

The connector for your LCD panel is a DVI adapter. I ran all over town looking for one to run my dual monitors only to find one at the house later that evening Angry. I run a Nvidea G-Force 6800 PCI express card w/256 DDR,dual monitor capabilities. And the only lag I see on my set up is undocking from one monitor to the other. I usually have the main set up as the spot plane monitor and the 17" for my "office" view. I always land with the spot view on so I look like a pro in my office view Grin Grin Grin

GOOD LORD! Note to self.  Need to pay more attention to when things are posted. Tongue

I'm currently building a four monitor setup, 3 for veiw and 1 for insterments, I have all of the monitors,
But Im a bit stuck on what cards to buy, I have one AGP
slot and 2 avible PCI slots, I do not want to spend over   £50 on both
(or maybe 3 cards if the PCI slots are not up to duel head graphic cards)

any advice?

masmith,

One thing to keep in mind is that the freamerates you will get will be determined by the solwest bottleneck in the system.  PCI graphics are generally pretty slow due to the nature of the buss.  That is why AGP came along.  Keep the least demanding visual images on the PCI driven monitor(s).

Most "serious" multi-moniitor setups for displaying exterior scenery views utilize FSUIPC, WideFS, and Wideview (all payware) to drive multiple versions of the same sim running on multiple faster AGP equipped machines.

Food for thought.

best,

.......john

i know what you mean.. can one screen run a few seconds behind the other. probable answer is no. because they are all runing off one PC (or LAN connected to one) so they should all lag at the same rate
