Looks like another one of those run'n'gun shooters.
No skilled required what's so ever.

I think I'll stick with OFP, at least until OFP2 is released.

I heard u need a pretty powerful rig though, and that it wont even run on a GeForce4 card like mine... Sad

O well, looks like one of the best games out for a while, definatly the best for multiplayer, though the aircraft handling leaves a lot to be desired. All in the name of fun though i suppose...

And I'm not a big fan of clans, I've always thought they were stupid.

Although there was that time me and my brother made a clan.
We called it TMC, the Two Man Clan.

I don't play multiplayer due to a 56k connection but in single player in H&D2 my favorite weapon is the Lee Enfield MkIV. Provided you don't get too close with too many it's pretty much unbeatable. Smiley

The only thing about Battlefield 2 that I think is bungled so far, is I can't seem to reprogram the controls for aircraft for my joystick.  Have y'all been able to figure it out?

Yeah, you click on the field you want to reprogram so that it is highlighted and then move your joystick in the way you want it to go.  It will map the joystick axis for that movement.

I was gonna get it Tuesday, but Best Buy's shipment was late, and Wal-Mart only got it on the 23rd.  At first (22) all the servers had really bad lag, and I heard someone talking about how there was a server patch, but most host probably didn't know about it.  It was a lot better today. Smiley (23)

I bought an Altec Lansing Mic a Best Buy along with it, but I can't get it to work in game.  Plus I feel really silly yelling,
"Nooberator, get in here with me!" in an empty room... Roll Eyes Has anyone else gotten VOIP to work?

Ok boys, I bought it but am having trouble figuring out the ports set up. Is there a "trigger port".

I have the list of all the ports needed for game play.

Any advice?

Well, thanks for all the great advice.... Wink   Grin...., but guess what?

No, I didn't configure my router yet and was still able to play BF2 online from it's Multiplayer set up. What's up with that?

I had a blast, but I can tell there are some serious players out there that really work together as a team. That's what I am looking for.

Will have to check into this router issue and why I could play anyway without configuring router.

Anybody interested in starting up a game or meeting on one of the servers or running a game server, let me know.

I got my Saitek X45 to function properly and it works like a charm. In BF2, my favorite is either the Cobra or Havoc choppers. But if they're not available, there is always a Buggy for fun riding [I have an International "A" Liscence in Grand Tourismo]. Wink

As for the server, yeah they get laggy sometimes. Usually because someone is still using 56K or there are just too many people. 32-64 players is a big number to handle. I'm surprised my laptop can still handle it [I have Cable].

Ok, I don't know why, but for some reason the servers [and I mean all of them either kick me out or are already full. Now tell me, if you can, what is going on here? I have Cable, i have disabled many of the background processes, etc. and still, I get kick out for lag even when there are just 12-16 players in a room.

I'm connecting to the servers using the game itself as the main browser. Is it any better when you use it on GameSpy?? And where is this patch people keep talking about??

As far as I know, the patch is for severs only, so if you're not hosting a server, you don't need to worry about it.
As for maps, I never select 0 ping maps, and usually when they have at least 3-5 slots free.  I rarely get disconnected.  I'm just having trouble getting VOIP to work.

I have been playing quite a bit and so far, no problems other than than Voip not working. Supposedly these issues, like the 0 ping (which is a false report) are being addressed by EA.

Supposedly there was a patch release already but that was even buggy, so now they are rushing to get out a "hot fix" to this patch. lol

I read at the forums here: http://www.forumplanet.com/planetbattlefield/

Look for me out there with username Fwfdfireman5.........but don't shoot me!!!!    Grin

I will check those out. So far, I have no problems. I have read at the aforementioned forum that there is a program out there called Xfire that does the browsing for you, allows you to see other players/friends online etc.

The slow browser thing is going to be corrected in the patch.
Team work is stressed very much in online play. Joining a squad in the game and following orders are essential.

I am having a blast so far. Usually I filter down to only ranked servers that are not full or empty, use punkbuster etc. Mine seems to load up fairly fast considering all the info that has to be retrieved.

Hope to see some of you there on the field of battle. S~

TOooo many bugs! I havn't gotten the game running yet (the demo worked fine), while two of my buddies have had the game die (not work anymore) on them.

For those of you who have not gotten the game yet, wait for a few more patches to come out, and the price to go down. Go spend your $50 on some (FS related) payware.

I agree. Its sad, but just about everything released by EA is pretty dam buggy.

Well, I have been playing BF2 since shortly after it's release. Admittedly, there were some bugs for some, for me, no problems.

They have released patch 1.2 and that fixes quite a few things. However, over at a Euro site EA states they are well aware of the problems that remain, some game issues and player imput and that around the end of August they should be releasing patch 1.3 that will address all these issues.

Many of the "bugs" are coming from peoples systems, and not the game. I will warn you here and now, your machine had better meet the minimum and better yet, be well above those requirements. Anything under 1 Gig of Ram, a 128 MB vid card will lead to minor up to severe problems. We are finding out that a 256MB vid card and more than 1 Gig of Ram is perfect.

Hope to see you all there.

I am running A64-3200@2.0GHz, 1GB DDR400, 256MBR9800XT on XP. The game does not install on my system. My friend runs on an A64-3400, 1GB DDR400 and 256MB6800Ultra and the game crashes 1/4 the time. Both these systems have been stable for 1+ years.

Sure, if you don't meet the minimum requirements, don't complain to EA. But, if you do, it is EA and Dice's job to ensure compatibility and stability across a broad range of system configurations.
