SO! i will be going to America pretty soon with Thomas Cook, Charter. I was wondering what aircraft this will be with them? anyone else been with them before. When we usually go with thomas cook its in a 757, but surely that cramped thing cant reach it accross the Atlantic!
Anyone know at all???
Thanks everyone!

My guess is a 757 or A330. I don't see any other aircraft that they own that are capable of flying across the Atlantic with passengers.

Yes, Continental uses the 757 to cross the Atlantic all the time...also are you going on Thomas Cook Airlines or Condor (Thomas Cook)...if you are going on the second one you then have a chance on the 767-300 which will most likely be the aircraft of choice

At a guess it will be the A330.

Whether it's cramped or not depends on the seating arrangements, not the aircraft.

and the SIZE of the passenger... no matter what airplane it is, I'm still cramped if I travel on economy...

757's over the atlantic have an extra 2 to 3 inches of leg room at least. But yes its too far to get to on the 757. If anything your going to have a little less leg room on the A330 to cram in as many passengers as possible. (US or British majors all the way)
Have a great holiday Jimbo.

<G> As you come in for a landing, don't worry too much about the blue tarps still covering the roofs of many houses. There aren't as many of them left now. We're almost caught up on the repairs.
Hurricane season started officially June 1, and there's a small storm churning up in the Caribbean, but it's expected to stay way to the west of Florida, in the gulf...
BTW - I live only about 7 miles from Sanford airport (a former US Naval Air Station), and I like flying in/out of there better than Orlando International. I'm not saying they cater to the UK traveller, but there are signs warning you to first look LEFT before crossing the street.

Why did you pick the summer to go to Florida, because school is out? I wonder since Flordia is humid and hot in the summer and (not being a local) doesn't Florida get lots of rain in the summer? The best time to go there IMO is December-March while the high for southern Florida is about 70-80 give or take. We were in Florida for a week for spring break and in Fort Lauderdale the high temp. one day was only 55 degrees F., but the next day it was back in the 60's and 70's

From a flight enthusiast's point of view, there are a number of interesting locations - Kermit Weeks' Fantasy of Flight (southwest of the Orlando area, on the road to Tampa) has an interesting collection of aircraft, plus the restoration and backlot tours are excellent.
Titusville airport, on the coast, and on the way to the Space Center, also has a warbird collection and museum.
The usual entertainment centers - WDW, Universal, etc - are always fun. Try and get in airboat rides this time around.... and yes, there are places where the food is excellent ...

southern weather in the summer. Absolutly nothing better. I dont know if its the same in florida but the humidity in the MS TN AL area is wonderful this time of year, especially on the 90* days.

Well you could spend a few hours at McCoy (Orlando) Airport and get to see some aircraft from the US. I am a beach type of person so I would rent a car and go to the beach. You also may want to try the night life of Southern Florida, ie. Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Pampano. The Everglades are cool, but I don't think I would want tp spend a day there, unless you are interested in that sort of stuff. As far as the Orlando area, I have not been there since I was younger but always wanted to check out Lake Okeechobee.

Are you insane!? Ive been to Alabama in the summer time, and could hardly breath because of the humidity. I was sweaty the entire time. It gets like that here in MO too, but not as often.

Don't forget Kissimmee Airport. Not sure if Tom Reilly's warbird museum is fully up & running after the hurricane damage but being a smaller airport it's more my sort of place. I had a flight in a blimp from there some years ago. Don't think they do them now. Plenty to do in downtown Kissimmee too. Of course, all this will depend on you having your own transport.

I have to agree. I only visited Florida once in the summer. It was too hot & crowded with Brit tourists for my liking - & I'm a Brit.
I preferred it in early December. Wonderful.
Only problem was the cold weather when I got back home.

lol must be a person to person thing. I love it, just going out and walking in those conditions is fun. although a canoe trip in 110* heat for 10 miles through tn rivers was almost a little to much by the end. pic in my links2 in my sig. In the personal pics section. lol cheap plug

you might have trouble renting a car at 16 as the age limit in the us for car rentals is 25 with almost all companies, 21 in a couple of places

From the photos I've seen, I don't think Tom Reilly's place will be up again. He's moving to Douglas GA to continue with the restoration of a second B-17.
Warbird Adventures suffered the loss of one of their T-6/SNJs and from the latest, they're not offering flights until they're comfortable with knowing what happened.
