Hello people!!!!

I will venture with Gmax , I`m a little scared I`ve designed in the past with other object designers with
good results
I see Gmax kinda complex , but I definitely need
new shapes

but I am an old fashioned guy and I need to make them in the form of APIs macros format.... well the question,
any easy - fast way to produce Gmax objects as `APIs`

thanks in advance

Can I ask why you want to keep using API's?

I have just moved from using FSDSv2 and FSSC to using GMAX, AFCAD2 and Object Placer and would not go back.  I mainly did this to keep up with xml as it seems this is way of the future??

With Gmax, just work through the tutorials and before you know it find you do not want to go back.  When I first started it did look very daunting to start with you will surprised who fast you pick it up.

I have not come across converting mdls to api's but then I have never looked as I haven't needed to.

I only started using these new tools mid April and the screenshot of the current project is a few weeks old.  It does not take long

great objects man!  especially the last one
see ,why?  many reasons  you are right it Gmax is intimidating  and it´s one of the reasons
frame rates for todays pcs are not a drawback for using apis exept for Big Airports ..... and I can more or less design decent shapes with EOD
the other reason is that I still use Airport 2.60 , re visiting
unfinished sceneries   .... and one of the most important thing is that the format produced by Gmax needs to be converted to.. xml ?  a process that backed me off a little

If the object produced by Gmax is in a format that  can be directly placed in fs2004 I ´d start right now

Anyway I will eventually go to GMAX  but when it comes to programing and that ...uffff
thanks for the tips

Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
Build object --> export as scenery mdl --> Place directly with obplacerXML Grin

The answer to your original question is yes, you need to export your objects as mdls as above. But then you need to compile them into a library using LibcreatorXML and use the api library option.

If you need help getting set up just shout. You'll need Gmax, M$ Gmax FS9 gamepack, MDLcommander (not required but useful as it gives you a few more options), ObplacerXML & LibcreatorXML.

In the end Gmax is much easier from a design point of view. God knows how you would make a hangar like Britt's HAS hangar in EoD but in Gmax its comparitively simple, you just need to know which buttons to press. (comparitively simple  Lips Sealed!)

Apart from anything else (and there are lots of other reasons for moving to Gmax/XML - its just better!) can you justify the effort you put into creating your airports/scenery in scasm only to have them unusable in the next FS?

Just were I was and I know what you mean.  All I do now is build the object,  export to mdl and then place the object with Arno's objectplacer.  The first image of RAF Tinwald Downs was simply doing that.  If I can do it anyone can.  Seriuosly do not be put off  by what looks daunting because it isn't really.  A few hours of effort and you will be suprised.

Any help needed just shout, although Bird's your best bet he got me this far!
