I was looking forward to visiting Old Warden today but trusted the BBC weather forecast for once & thought better of it. From the rain here this afternoon I think I made the right decision. Here's some of the interesting visitors at Dunsfold yesterday instead.

I've seen R/C models bigger than this Cri-Cri. Not surprised to find that the designer was a modeller himself. This one (G-SHOG) was originally flown by the Mitsubishi display team from the top of, you guessed it, a Mitsubishi Shogun.

The second Miles Gemini I've seen in a week.

And here's a Messenger, the Gemini's elder but smaller sister. One example was badly damaged in Holland only a couple of weeks ago. These Miles aircraft are becoming extremely rare now.

The venerable Auster. This one's an Aiglet designed as a trainer. Not sure about the fluorescent paint but I suppose it shows up well.

Another rare bird. Only one in existence AFAIK. The Civilian Coupe built in 1931.

A nice DH Hornet Moth.

The unusual Ercoupe. Designed as an easy-to-fly aircraft & apparently impossible to stall or spin. I have mixed feelings about that idea.

The Luscombe Silvaire seems very popular in this country now. I remember this was one of the first rubber powered flying models I built as a kid. Good old Keil Kraft. The choice was limited & I think it was either that or a Spitfire.

The DH Dove. I worked on these for many years but strangely enough never flew in one. A delight to fly from all accounts. Not many left now.

I quite agree about the Ercoupe Doug - whether it stalls or spins or not, at some point its going to hit the ground somehow...

Lovely shots, that Civilan Coupe things a nice little bird. Smiley

I was hoping to go to Old Warden myself, but with a trip up to York tomorrow I couldn't face driving 120 miles up there then driving back, then having to drive 300 miles up to York!

Great series Doug! I didnt know that the Mitsubishi Shogun actually existed. Ive seen the one for FS for download before, but I didnt think it was based on a real airplane.

Yep, it used to take off from the top, and land on (I think), a Mitsubishi Shogun

Thanks. The Mitsubishi Shogun is a 4 x 4 (SUV).

Not my pic & I never saw it. The Cri-Cri might have taken off from the top but I don't know if they ever landed it back on during a display.

Darn that Weatherman - from the look of things they had the Yak boys, Jumpin Jacques, and the show was rounded of by a formation of Spit, Sea Hurri and Peter Vacher's Hurricane...

Some of those are just looking strange. But I guess that's normal for most english aircraft.

I was more referring to the Gemini, Coupé & Dove.
