Dunsfold, the famous Hawker factory & home of the Harrier. Unfortunately it was closed down some time ago & is now named Dunsfold Park. Anyways, they held the Brooklands Wings & Wheels event there today. The weather didn't look too promising but I took a chance & was treated to a very varied show. True to form the heavens opened just as the display started but after a quick shower it cleared up. Here's some of the aircraft arriving.

Doug, you lucky chap! I wanted to go myself today, but as the wife's cars in for a new radiator I had to stay at home. I had a sneaky feeling you might be there. Did you get any pics of XX154 which had flown in from Boscombe? If it was mentioned by the commentator as being the first prototype Hawk I feel extremely proud...


...as I told him last night at the Flypast forum!
(he thought it was the first production Hawk)

Nice to see the Hawker types too, particularly the Sea Fury and Sea Hawk. One of our chaps has just converted onto the Sea Hawk. Lucky bloke... Smiley

Shame you missed it. He did mention something but I wasn't paying too much attention. Duncan Simpson was there & I was more interested in what he had to say. Sorry, I don't seem to have any shots. I'm not too good with jets.

Ah well, nevermind. Duncan Simpson is a legend, and will forever be associated with Dunsfold and the Hawk...

did they do a flat or rolling display? or did it clear up enough for the full display?

I notice on another forum that the BBMF BoB veteran Spit flew in company with Peter Vacher's BoB veteran Hurricane. Very rare for a BBMF aircraft to fly in company with a privately owned one.

Dunners is very close to Gatwick so they're restricted to the low level stuff. The cloud base wouldn't have been high enough for the full display. I've seen the Reds quite a few times over the last few months but haven't seen the full display since I've had my camera.

Indeed. The commentator mentioned it. Not sure who was flying the Hurri.

Judging by the apparent small size of the pilot, I'd guess it was Stu Goldspink or Pete Kynsey...

In other news, The Fighter Collection's P51C has finally flown again too...
