Have you ever wanted to visit all 48 contiguous United States? Do you fly flight simulator in multiplayer with friends from SimViation?

If you answered Yes, sure, or maybe to any of the above, continue reading on… Wink if not, why not? Are you afraid of letting us see a bad landing? If so, I’m sure it can’t be any worse than mine! Wink

Anyways, here is the deal. Starting on June 11th I will be hosting a multiplayer server with audio for SimViation locals who would like to fly. As an added bonus we will be touring all 48 of the contiguous United States, preferably in small slow airplanes.

Who: Any SimViation local interested in a fun time touring the country with fellow simmers.

Date: June 11th, 2005

Time: 9pm eastern until we reach our destination, or agree upon an alternate destination.

Where: IP address to be announced the day before the tour begins.

Technicalities:
The session will be hosted via FSHost and therefore I’m allowing FS2002, and FSACOF, however FSACOF is highly recommended.

For our audio setup I will be setting up a SKYPE conference call for the first flight. If this does not suit our needs we will pursue other methods. You can download SKYPE for free from the following website: http://www.skype.com/  and be sure to check back sometime after Friday evening for more information about connecting to the skype conference call we will be using.

Aircraft used will and can vary, but ideally we would like to limit the aircraft used to single engine GA, and small twins. Prime examples would be the wonderful stearman available for download, the stock Beechcraft King-air, etc.

While it is not necessary for all players to be flying the same aircraft, it would only be appropriate if we are all flying airplanes with a comparable cruise speed etc. With a setup like this it would be a nice touch if someone flying an aircraft that isn’t a stock one would post a quick message telling where to find the aircraft they will be using. This prevents other users from seeing a Cessna 172SP doing mach 2!  Grin

If a fellow player has an aircraft suggestion for any specific leg(s) of the hoplist, please feel free to suggest it and we will take it into consideration.

The hoplist is set to follow the same path as another real life pilot. His journey can be found at: http://www.flight48.com
...

Afraid you won’t be able to make it every week? Or just don’t have time to finish the flight with the rest of the group every week? Fear not, for I will try to have the flight server running around 7pm every Saturday night.

As always happy flying and I hope to see some of you Saturday night!

Jared

P.S. As this would be a private server hosted on my personal computer the session will remain in service every Saturday night as long as I’m in town. If however I go out of town, to my grandmothers house for the weekend I may not be able to host the session on that night. If anybody is interested in becoming a backup host for the session for times like this, please feel free to contact me and we can work something out, otherwise, when I’m gone there will be a ban on flying so to speak.. Wink

Jared,

I might jump in every now and then.... as life permits.

Might I suggest using Teamspeak for voice comms?  It is freeware, easy to set up, and is a pretty standard ?multiplayer" comm choice.  Many people might have it already.

best,

The key word is up there "contiguous".

Alaska and Hawaii are not "connected" to the "mainland"
