But why did you both put it into something you probally will never fly in...instead you could have bought the PMDG 737, CRJ, or ERJ.

I do see you bought some props that are new to the present time but I am talking about the aircraft that are old already.

Dave,....It certainly makes me wonder too...!

13/14+ year-old schoolboys being able to spend more than twice my total monthly pension on computer games...!

It's certainly not something I would be proud of..!

I often wonder if it's Mum and Dad who are actually paying for all this luxury, like super-dooper computer systems, hi-speed internet connections, telephone charges, the electric light bill, computer software, computer hardware, etc, etc..... Wink....?

Does any schoolboy get over $500 a month pocket money to blow away.....?

I wish I had that sort of money to feed and clothe myself, pay the rent, etc, etc....!

Paul....always makes me wonder...or is it dream time... Wink...?

1) DreamFleet A36
2) Cessna 152
3) 421C Golden Eagle
4) DreamFleet 310
5) DreamFleet Archer
6) DreamFleet Cardinal
7) Carenado Mentor T-34B
8 ) Captain sim Legendary F-104
9) FSD Aerostar Superstar
10) FSD Piper Navajo Panther

Let's see....10 aircraft, and most of these are in the $20 price range, some a little more some a little less. I know because I have most of these too, and know what the prices of the others are except the Captain Sim Legendary F-104, dont have a clue what they get for that one, now I never was that good in math, but I know 10 planes, at let's say an average figure of $20, doesnt equal $500  Undecided

Did a little research:
1) DreamFleet A36 .......................$24.95
2) Cessna 152     .......................$17.95
3) 421C Golden Eagle ....................$22.95
4) DreamFleet 310 .......................$22.95
5) DreamFleet Archer ....................$19.95
6) DreamFleet Cardinal ..................$22.95
7) Carenado Mentor T-34B ................$19.95
8 ) Captain sim Legendary F-104 .........$35.95
9) FSD Aerostar Superstar ...............$24.95
10) FSD Piper Navajo Panther ............$24.95
-----------------------------------------------
                    Grand Total        $237.50
If you paid $500 for all those planes, then you paid more than twice the price they are selling them for on the websites...... Shocked Shocked Shocked

CJ I didnt know you were 16. Hell Im 20 and trying to get by. Im just lucky to have a computer that works(Its not the fastest in the world, CJ you know). If u pay that much for aircraft in that short period of time you should think 2-3 times better when buying AC(can I afford it--rent, light bill, water bill, and other things like gas money, wich youll get later down the road when your older marick).

Hell Im going to collage and I want alot of things like a new comp(last), some RAM and new Video card for the comp I have now, BF2, and materials to build my simpit.

The way I try to get by is a lil simulator thing I do at collage. I bet mumy and daddy are wondering why the bill is highter now than it was before the kids... Tongue Wink!

Well the thing is you just cannot get a Freeware quality aircraft for the competes with a Payware quality aircraft, and by that I can only speak for commercial airliners.  I do see some older aircraft out there that people are purchasing that are not worth the price people are paying.  Show me a freeware aircraft the competes with the the Feelthere CRJ.

Don't misunderstand me. I'm not trying to start an argument about payware vs freeware. What people spend their money on is their choice & nothing to do with me. However, when a 14 year-old thinks nothing of spending more on FS addons in 1 month than some of us have to survive on it seems a tad wrong to me, especially if they're not satisfied with them. Fozzer hit the nail on the head really & he puts it so much better than I can.

I for one enjoy payware aircraft. Sometimes payware is the only option for getting a particular aircraft that you cant find in freeware.

Sure there are some absolutely fantastic freeware aircrafts, utilities, sceneries out there, but as a whole, buying payware to me is a hobby. Granted my purchases have slacked off in recent months due to reasons beyond my control, however, I look at it this way. I enjoy simming. Its my hobby. Its my way of being able to "fly" since I can never get a pilots license, and in retrospect, its relatively cheap. Ive spent probably close to if not over $3000 for payware addons from aircraft, to utilities, to sceneries, etc, and other than a small percentage of the ones Ive purchased, I have been enthusiastically happy with each one and loved every minute of it. Is it worth it? To me it is, because its a hobby I very much enjoy.

And regarding the FMC aircrafts, yes, its a viable payware option not overly accessible to freeware aircrafts, but it does not make a purchase for me. While realistic, I would rather be flying than programming the FMC for an hour and a half before I even think about taking off.

---Stephen's two cents.

I dont know where this idea that simv thinks payware is wrong comes from. If Pete or anyone else here thought it was then they wouldn't allow it at all. It has a seperate forum because as it gained in popularity we had much confusion over what was payware and what was freeware. Piracy is what people here have a problem with when it comes to payware. And we know the reasons it isnt allowed in the comp is to keep it a level playing field.

Jr. Savas might have a medical problem that stops him from flying. Or it could just be too expensive to do. What may seem cheap to you certainly isn't cheap to those who have a mortgage to pay and bills that appear most days of the week.

As I said, I didn't intend to start an argument over payware vs freeware, especially in the Payware forum. I know some people enjoy collecting payware addons & that's fine with me providing they can afford it. If I saw something I really liked I wouldn't object to paying for it but it would have to be far better than any freeware alternative before I would part with a single penny. It would also have to come from a reputable company with good customer support. Maybe I'm old-fashioned but I still think spending $500 on FS addons in one month is excessive for a 14 year-old. There is good & bad in everything & I'm sure the best payware is excellent, which it should be if it's created by professional modellers. I've also seen some rubbish in my time that I wouldn't release as freeware. Just because you're paying for something doesn't guarantee the quality.

Indeed. I think $50/month is pushing it, and thats for a 23 year old on a salary. Unfortunately most of us have been bitten by poor quality payware at some point, not mentioning any names... Wink

For the record, this would happen to be post number 3000 for me... Smiley

Jrpilot, when I was a kid, roughly 7 years old, while asleep, I fell out of the top bunk of my bed and hit the back of my head, right under the base of my skull. To this day, because of that, I lose my balance, I can black out on a swingset, a roller coaster, and even in a plane. Thankfully I have not had it happen in a plane, but I no longer ride roller coasters, nor do I do anything that means excessive head movement.

Trust me...I would LOVE to be a pilot, but due to the above, I would never pass my medical.

This is precisely why I don't bother with payware.  If it's not freeware, I don't waste my time or my money.  There are plenty of uber-high quality aircraft in the freeware hangars.  Look at the new P-3, the Stearman, POSKY, MelJet, Project Fokker, Kirk Olssen, Daisuke's Hornet (I always butcher his name so I'm going to leave it at that), Moach's 737...the list is endless.

The belief that you can't get a good plane without paying for it is nonsense.

Hey, some blind guy in England passed his physical, so theres nothing that can hold you back Wink

You just got to retrain your brain (thats what makes us more advanced than any other animal), I belive there was a conslusive study that stated that if you try something hard enough (no, not jump off a cliff and live, nothing of that sort) your brain will eventually find a way to do it. So I believe if you put yourself in some balance-intensive acitivies, you'll eventually get over it Wink

I used to have a minor balance problem* too, but spinning in a spinny chair helped me get over that Wink

*bike accident, went down a hill really really fast, and fell off...there were bells rining in my ear for like 2 days Tongue

I think you should go for it savas....(the only reason that I haven't picked up flying lessons is cuz my mom think that I'll kill myself....no idea where she got that from Tongue Roll Eyes)

hmm....When I was a kid our church scout group went camping to a 4H property out in the snowbelt in the middle of winter. They put us in cabins with those little plastic mattresses. You know the ones, thinner than your jeans you wore that day. Then you gotta use the nifty winter sleeping bags which are a slick vinyl type setup.

I swear to you the truth that I woke up one night as I was falling out of the bed. Luckily my legs went first, and I woke up mid-air, because I remember vividly hitting the ground and wondering what was going on that I was liek flying in the middle of the night...lol

After a minute or two I put two and two together and realized that the sleeping bag and mattress both beign slick had allowed my legs to fall off the side of the bed and the rest of me just followed....

Sorry to hear that something like that had to happen mate... Lips Sealed

Hey, some blind guy in England passed his physical, so theres nothing that can hold you back Wink

If he was unsighted he would never pass a medical, however, there are a lot of pyshically disabled people who fly, albeit with safety pilots.

Having said that, if you happen to have a friend with a nice aeroplane, there's no reason why you can't fly as much as you can (obviously not solo though...)

Dude you are absolutely right on the piracy thing. If you all remember I had a problem with not knowing that a certain F/A-18 that I had used was payware.

But I also agree with brett, as we should have atleast an unoficial contest for payware, I mean hell they have it for edited screenies.

Is that why you tried to land "Up-Side" down when you were at your new airport?

All I know is that as long as people make it, and market it well, someone will buy it!
Look at Flight1! A Cessna 172R? I'll end up getting it.
Along with a lot of others. I will admit that it has hurt one thing!
Upgrading my computer! I did go out and get a new video card a week ago.
As for "Kids" spending a lot of money. Well, I've been in 3DMax forums were thats all your talking with. I surely dont' have $7,000 for 3DMax. But they do,and with all the bells and whistles.
Now lemme see Carenado gets $20.00 and Flight1 gets..........Yeah, I got enough1,Honey were did you hide the credit card!
