Looks more like a Kawasaki Ki-78, a Japanese single seat, single engined high speed research aircraft of all metal construction.

P.S.:  Thanks for the link to the cool site!!

Sure does. The Hein doesn't have the bulge behind the cockpit.

Here's some pics of  Ki-61's...

#1. http://www.ijaafpics.com/JB&W2/Ki-61-55s.jpg

#2. http://www.ijaafpics.com/JB&W2/Ki-61-31s.jpg

in the first... behind the cockpit, note the 'clean' lines ... in the second pic... take a good look at the exhaust.

now, for the Ki-78...

#1. http://www.ijaafpics.com/JB&W2/Ki-78-9.jpg

#2. http://www.ijaafpics.com/JB&W/Ki-78-3s.jpg

notice in the first pic (Ki-78) the intake scoops on the side? (Not sure if they're intake scoops or not... had to call 'em something) and in the second pic... the exhaust is different.. no doubt in my mind it's a Ki-78

Good Hunting,
Brandon

EDIT - I believe the Ki-78 is smaller than the Ki-61.

Good Hunting,
Brandon

P.S. Here's the Link

EDIT - seems from This topic started at SOH... she's a bit hard to fly, and no guns. (for some reason I can't direct link to the topic... look for 'Akemi's Ki-78 is Available!')

Verrehh nice to fly - some tricky flight characteristics; like how the controls lock up at 440kias; but a real nice-looking plane; fast and sweet to fly. A definite winner!  Grin

The plane is out and ready for download. Go to the my first post on the top. There I gave you the address where you can get it.

It looks great for a Japan 1946 campaign. Lets thank the developer and enjoy it.
