My System enough for CFS3 (Read 520 times)

Hi,New user here on the forums and i wanted to know if my system is capable of running CFS3 WELL, because I've been playing CFS3 and I've been experiencing low-frame rates

I Have

ATI All-In-Wonder PCI Graphics Card

Windows 2000 with 256 MB of RAM

Pentium 4 CPU 1.70 GHz

Also,would the 3.1 Patch help, or the No-CD Patch?

It will probably run cfs3 but with very low settings and it will not necessarily run well but it will sure look ugly.
The minimum specs for me would be :
- a 2Ghz CPU
- a DX9 compliant card (9800pro is a cheap good one)
- 512Mo of Ram

The 3.0 patch is the one that helps the most performance wise. 3.1 just upgrades two or three planes but is necessary to play in some MP rooms.

My Machine RAN CFS3 terribly bad with an old 1.8 p4, 512MB RAM & 128MB GeForce FX5600, I would'nt expect too much!

My current machine (in my sig below) was'nt much better until I replaced the GeForce FX with my current 6800LE.

You only have 256MB System RAM, thats barely enough for the Operating System!

In short, I don't think CFS3 would run well at all.

Get CFS2 until you upgrade your PC.

I saw this on some site when cfs3 first came out and haven't seen it since. go to cfs3 root folder/file whatever. open the default folder. open cfs3 xml with notepad look for "fps 0" or similar and change to "fps 30" It worked for me. At least it helps

My 2 cents worth. The listed machine is badly underpowered for CFS3 but should run CFS2 WELL. No matter what your program choice, its very light on system ram.

As for the other post the 128MB GeForce FX5600 vid card; IMHO is OK for CFS3 as its the same one I use. Wink

When I bought my computer, it had 128 system RAM on XP. I bumped it up to 256 and I noticed a sizable difference. I then bumped it up to 384 and FS9 improved significantly. My system ram is now 512 and I noticed sizable improvements in all my games.

Now, for the video. My computer is a budget computer that has that Intel Extereme Roll Eyes

integrated video. It is anything but extreme. Before I did any of my ram upgrades, I bought a CompUSA ATI 7500 with 64mb video card so I could stop all that shared ram nonsense!. Everything improved immediately! However, if you're short on cash but need to upgrade, avoid this card. It won't run EAW. But anyway, the improvements in video quality and performance was easy to detect! After I bumped my ram to 384, I bought an Xtsay 9200LE with 128 ram and the improvement was slight, but noticable. I now have a GeForce 5500FX with 128. Framerates definately improved. But since my budget PC doesn't have an AGP slot, this is as far as I go until I buy a new computer.

I plan on upgrading my CPU next, and I am on a budget, so I'll be looking for a Celeron 2.4 - 2.6 off ebay. But based on what I read, my machine still won't be powerful enough for CFS3.

After CPU upgrade:
Celeron 2.6
512 system memory
GeForce 5500FX 128 DDR on PCI buss
