Sometimes it's hard to get the shot you want with the correct exposure, and its usually due to backlighting.....Ugh.......hard to balance the bright day outside with what you need inside.........

This is the reason we use Photoshop..........first, the shot as I got it.....not very good, ...........

.....after a few minutes of Photoshop, I brought it to this point.........not the best, but a bit more acceptable.......would you have known if I didn't show it this way ?

Usually, when uploading a photo, I'll scan it at 1200 DPI, crop it, and use Autolevels. This will usually result in a 10-15mb .jpg that if I want, I can blow up to any size. Then I save that to a folder I'll later back up, and make any necessary repairs to the pic from there and resize it to 800x600 for the forum.

Call me old school, but when i was learning photography, one of the first things I was taught was to do the cropping in the lens, not on the paper and I always try to adhere to that rule. If you don't have good composition to start with, it's not likely you're going to get it from cropping the pic... Tongue

Right you are Kev........I usually do my best to get the info in the original image, but as for exposure, some are harder than others to balance........

the pain of alot of museums. Rubbish lighting, difficult aircraft positions, and windows which either let too much light in or too little.
nice shot Ken is that a rocket on the sr71 or just the angle.

That's the Ramjet powered D-21 Drone on the back of the M-21, Craig......this may be thought of as an SR-71, but it is in fact the sole remaining example of the bird to carry this unmanned supersonic recon drone......
........the drone was designed to overfly the sensitive area, gather its information, then return and crash after ejecting the valuable data for recovery by US Forces.......

They did several tests with the Drone, but the system for launching it, never worked fine. I caused some M-21's to crash. Imagine this all occured in an era where computers as we know them today, didn't exist!

I have a photo in a book with 15 (don't recall the exact number) drones on a row at Davis Monthan. They were never used. Again lots of money spent for nothing.
