ILS There but Not There (Read 244 times)

Good Grief!

I'm working on a series of fictional airports, a few of which have ILSs on various runways.  The ILS shows up in the map/GPS, but if I click on the airport in the map it doesn't list the ILS frequency.

I've only created one other airport in AFCAD, but the ILS there works properly.  I even double checked it to see if anything was different, and there isn't, at least not that I can see.

Is there a way to make this work?

I was just chasing this very same problem and it seems that
there is a glitch in AFCAD with regards to the ILS. As far as
I can tell what causes the problem is attempting to change the
ILS designator after having created the ILS with a different name.
In my case I had originally named the ILS for Rwy 26 on my
CVN-71 "IC71". The VOR was name V something...I forget my original name.
Anyhow, I decided to change the ILS name to "ITR2" and
the
VOR to "VTR2". When I went into FS9 and looked at the GPS,
I had my tower freq and othercomm freqs listed but no ILS 29.
I then used NewBglAnalyze.exe to disassemble my AFCAD.
Atthe end of the dissaembly it reported an error:
"ILS IC71 missing!"
There was no reference to ANY ILS in the disassembled text file.
Only the VOR/DME data was there.
Well, since I had renamed the ILS I knew there shouldn't
be any "IC71" references in the AFCAD but obviously there was.
So I went back into AFCAD and deleted the ILS and VOR navaids.
I then reinstalled the ILS and VOR, naming them "ITR2" and "VTR2". I saved the file, ran the disassembler again and
got no error this time.
I then fired up FS9 again, looked at the GPS list and sure enough
there was the listing for ILS 26!

So, if you're having problems, delete the Navaids and reenter them.
Hopefully that will clear up your problem as it did mine.

Search SimV and the usual sites for "Jim Viles" . . . he explains it all.
XML code explained
quote from Jim's post:

"File Description:
As most know initiating the ILS at certain airports for AI Traffic is not a function at this time when using AFCAD2. If you add a new ILS runway to an airport such as KDEN (Denver International Airport 16R/34L) only the user aircraft can use this runway when visibility falls below 3 miles. ATC will no longer use this runway for AI Traffic because FS9 sees it as a visual runway and will now vector your AI Traffic to a FS9 stock ILS runway. This file adds all NAVAIDS for making 16R/34L a Precision Instrument Runway by adding all the radar fixes for both the ILS approach portion and the proper missed approach procedures, altitudes and intersections as per current published plates. All AI Aircraft will now continue to use 16R/34L when Airport conditions are less than 3 miles."

Good info, however this isn't the problem that the original
poster was reffering to. It was the absence of the "ILS xx  xxx.xx"
listing on the GPS Facility "WPT" Page 3.
This is the page that lists the various COMM and ILS frequencies for a given airport.
For information only, if you will, not neccessarily how ATC will
use this facilities resources.
