Hi all, I need to know if this graphics card is any good, the Sparkle GeForce 6600 AGP  256mb isn't listed in the "Toms hardware" list. Does any one have this card? is it any good? and what sort of price should I pay for it? (in £)
If I bought it it would be going in the following computer:
Asus P4C800 Deluxe
Pentium 4 3Gig CPU
Maxtor 40gig 7200rpm Hard drive
1Gig Kingston PC3200 Ram (2x 512Mb)
Sound blaster sound card
Windows XP pro
Many thanks in advance Chris

I've had issues with sparkle cards in the past.....  Roll Eyes

If you want a 6600GT, then , pretty much any of these cards listed here will suit.

What is the difference between 128mb GT and the 256mb "normal" ? This is one area I have problems working out the better card! Wink

The GT has much faster memory so any benefits of 256MB memory on the normal model are nothing compared to the benefits of having 128MB of very fast memory.

My system:Intel Q6600@3.6GHz, Corsair XMS2 4GB DDR2-6400 (4-4-4-12-1T) , Sapphire 7850 OC 2BG 920/5000, X-Fi Fatality, Corsair AX 750, 7 Pro x64

They whack 256mb of cheap and crusty memory on pathetic cards to try and trick people into buying junk when they think they are getting the real deal, it's a con.

I guess it's working because I see so much of it unfortunately.

Sparkle make a 6600GT, it's a 128mb card. Look at that.

If any card is not VERY expensive and has 256mb of memory, it's an imposter. A simple matter of economics.
There are only a very few cards (only one I can name) that have a 6600GT GPU and 256mb of memory. They don't make them because they would compete with the premium 6800 class in performance at a reduced price, and we can't have that can we?

...Mainboard: Asus P5K-Premium, CPU=Intel E6850 @ x8x450fsb 3.6ghz, RAM: 4gb PC8500 Team Dark, Video: NV8800GT, HDD: 2x1Tb Samsung F3 RAID-0 + 1Tb F3, PSU: Antec 550 Basiq, OS: Win7x64, Display: 24" WS LCD

Hi thanks for all the replies. Does any one have the 6600GT 128Mb card and what sort of perfomance does it give? I currently have an Nvidia FX5600 256Mb card.

The performence delta would be enormous.

Expect to see higher fps at higher resolutons and details.
