You could say my Cockpit is down for a major overhaul.

After mounting the upper monitor last weekend.

I have come to the conclusion that the base needs to be 2’ longer and its framework not built strong enough.

Will be picking up 2 nice new sheets of Ύ “ fir plywood on the weekend.

One will be cut 6’ X 3’ the new base.

The other will be cut 4’X4’.
The vertical walls that will hold up the monitor shelves.

The current base is 36 X 48.
Will cut the monitor shelves and the shelf that holds the lens from it.

I will transfer the Console, Panel and seat assembly as they are to the new base.

The sim will look the same but will be a little longer and much stronger.

This should only take two or 3 weekends.

In the mean time.

I’m using FS 2000 and cfgEDIT to create my panel.cfg

Then placing the panel.cfg into FS 2004 aircraft manually.

Then add the final touches myself with note pad.

So far I have created 3 nice panels.

1 - 4 engine turboprop panel with 3 windows
Main panel Flight instruments
Engine and autopilot
GPS and radio

2 X 4 engine heavy jet panels with 3 windows.
Main panel Flight instruments
Engine and autopilot
GPS and radio

I have a nice 2004 Air Canada A-340.
Can’t weight to get it all back together.

Need a Vatsim fix.

Once the sim is re assembled!

I’m going to build in the Console monitor for the GPS and radio stack.

How ever not all news is bad.

I did get a chance to fly my sim last weekend.

Still missed the runway!

The view through the Fresnal lens was awesome!
And the rumble seat was as they say way cool.

Looking forward to having a go at the new A-380. Wow!

Eh hem!

O.K. This is from memory, but I'm pretty sure it is really close.

No person may describe in any required maintenance entry a unit to be overhauled unless:
Using methods and techniques acceptable to the Administrator, it has been disassembled, cleaned, inspected, repaired as necessary, reassembled and tested in accordance with standards acceptable to the Administrator, which have been developed by the holder of the type certificate ect.

No person may describe in any required maintenace entry a unit as being rebuilt unless it has been disassembled, cleaned, inspected, repaired as necessary, reassembled, and tested to the same tolerances and limits as a new item, using either new parts or used parts that either conform to new part tolerances and limits or to approved oversized or undersized dimensions. This can only be done b the Manufacturer.

So I would classify this closer to a rebuild, but I wouldn't use either! I would use the term 'Major Alteration' and this would require a form 337 and a field approval, unless somebody has an STC......

Homebuild cockpits are "Experimental". This removes the need for much of the paperwork. Smiley
