Roll EyesHello, Was at Simmarket website and new plane has been released. Seems pretty nice but the price is a staggering $40.00! I know one does not have to purchase but I am shocked. jakob Undecided

I wouldn't purchase a $40 AC but some others might.

Developers need an insentive to continue with their often hard work developing new FS add-ons.
As the sophistication of the add-ons grow so will the price...at least up to a point.

The recent release of "Ultimate Terrain" @ $29.95 might seem a bit high for some but, worth every penny to most who have it (including me).

Bottom line, the price of anything is what the market will support and if it's worth it to you, solely depends on if what it contains is important to you. Smiley

Doesn't sound out of the ordinary to me - the PMDG 737NG, CS 707 and F104 are all around that price for a start...

Well some payware is great while others (IMO) are crap, I see most commercial aircraft coming out are very realistic, but it seem that there is a bunch of older WWII and military aircraft coming out daily that are quite expensive and from pictures aren't worth $5 to me, it seems they through on a paint scheme, put in some sort of missile guidance system ( I don't know older aircraft nor military aircraft systems) and charge $40, yes I see were you are coming for but some aircraft truely are worth $40, just make sure you don't pay for crap.

if you're reffering to that ariane 737, it's actually $ 51 (40 euros). as the others said, 40 $ is a reasonable price for a good quality ac. but be careful not to buy some dodgy one Wink

if you are buying the Airane 737, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY, there is a freeware better than that, that aircraft is horrible, go for the PMDg 737 if you are going to buy a 737, but whatever you do, do NOT get the Airane 737

Odd, Ive been reading the Avsim forums about this AC and most say its better than the PMDG 737NG, though with liveries (added cost), the basic model, and a VC (added cost as well) you are looking at around $130 for an aircraft. A bit too steep for my tastes but $40 for a quality add-on aircraft isnt a bad price, but it better be quality!

But then again, I see it is the Ariane model. I would just go with the PMDG 737NG, and add the 800/900 addon. You would come out cheaper and be able to install all the free liveries you wanted that were available

Most of the old timers will know the deal about this, but the newer guys may not have heard of him.

It's a long story to tell, so let me make it as brief as possible.

Back in the days of FS200, Tishma tried to pass himself off as being a representative of the flight sim community and entered into negotiations with American Airlines to be the sole distributor of the AA name and logo as far as flight simulation was concerned.  Any person wishing to make an American plane (freeware or payware) would have had to pay Tishma a royalty.  Letters of cease and desist were sent out, and AA planes were pulled en masse from sites across the web.  The whole incident boiled down to two camps, with Tom Allensworth over at AVSIM towing the line for freeware and fighting against Tishma and company, and Nels Anderson over at Flightsim.com supporting Tishma.

A lot of hard feelings were caused and the damage to the Flight Sim community was incalculable.  To this day, I don't see many AA planes around, and the use of any  commercial logos on freeware was seriously threatend.

In the end, Tishma was driven underground, and has had to hide his name on everything he has touched since then.  This guy is nothing but bad news, folks and you should stay away from him...

Here's a bit from Avsim you may wish to read...

http://www.avsim.com/pages/0902/pt_again.html

Search for Peter Tishma over at Avsim News and you'll find more.
