Hi,

When I press 'w' to get to the cut-down instrument view, it only works with certain planes. It used to work with all of the default fs2002 ones, but now many don't work. I altered one of the 'panel' files for the cessna 182rg and it seems to have affected other props as well. Has anyone had a similar problem and know how to fix it?

Thanks.

Hi,

Have you made a backup before altering the panel of the Cessna ? No I suppose...
Maybe you can find the aircraft in one of the install discs. But where... I don't know.
The Cessna is the basic... therefore be carefull with this...

Thank you for the reply, I will check the installation disks. If anyone knows of any backup copies of default aircraft online I would be pleased to hear from them.

Thanks.

The aircraft files are on CD#1, Aircraft.cab.  If you sort the 'path' column the file will be easy enough to find.

Also check to make sure you havent deleted or changed the folder/file,  '..FS2002/Aircraft/Default/Panel/panel.cfg'. This panel contains the default 'mini' panels displayed by the W key, if an a/c doesnt have its own 'mini' panel.

Excellent point Dave.  I found out by accident that an individual panel.cfg can override the system wide minipanel (that's what the W view is called).  I have a T-33 made by Tim Piglet Condad that had this entry in panel.cfg:

[Window05]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=828,150
window_size_ratio=1.000
position=7
visible=1
ident=MINIPANEL
window_size= 0.809, 0.195
window_pos= 0.096, 0.805
child_3d=1

If your problem is that all jets or all props or all helicopters refuse to show the minipanel you probably have a corrupted FS2002/Aircraft/Default/Panel/Panel.cfg file.

Just re-read this thread, should provide the answer.

In particular check for '..FS2002/Aircraft/Default/Panel/panel.cfg'.
