You need to know the IP address of the server.  If you're connecting that way, then you need to talk to the person hosting the session and get their IP.  Otherwise I'd check out one of the multiplayer sites (such as the zone..ick).  Or you can just host it yourself and have everyone connect to you.

Are you on dialup?  If so, that could cause it's own myriad of issues, just because of the lag involved.  But it's not impossible.

In FS9, just launch the game, click on multiplayer, and then follow the prompts.  At some point there's a button that says "Host".  Then you should be good to go.  For those who want to connect to you, give them your IP address.  (But don't advertise it publically....)

cheers scottler ive done that and found fs9 works fine but you have no tower info and no planes is this because you have to have other people on your session.
I am on 1mps broadband so shouldnt be a problem

What do you mean by no tower info?  As for no AI planes, AI traffic disappears when you fly multiplayer.

Nope, that also goes bye-bye with multiplayer.  Check out sites like Vatsim, IVAO, etc for online ATC...

Tell me about it...  Roll Eyes...!

In 6 years or Flight Simming, I've only been able to get Multiplayer to work once, (or was it twice?)... Cry...!

I've given up long ago... Roll Eyes... Cry...!
LOL...!

If you're just looking for a basic flying around aimlessly kinda thing, check out the Zone...pretty straight forward connection, but you pay for it with a lack of realism and some sketchy players.  LOL

Or if you have fs2004 and are in search of a laid back group of people with a wonderful hoplist which takes you around the world.. 1,100+ hops and counting..Wink

www.wspilots.com

I've been flying on there since mid october last year, and although I haven't had much time lately because of school commitments I tend to spend more time online there flying then I do flying offline.. Wink
