Hi folks,

I've just read the "can't touch the ground" discussion with interest - I've got a similar ('though stranger) problem.

I installed the bulk pack of UK airfields, the scenery file with about 150 of them, because it was the only way to get RAF St Mawgan (Cornwall).

BUT

The runways are floating about 15 feet up in the air: looks great from up above but when you try to land on them, naturally you sink through onto the green cornish grass below!

This is rather off putting!!!!!!!

So now to my question - How do I bring RAF St Mawgan into land?  (NO! This is not a spoof!)

The other airfields do not seem to be affected.

All the best,
Ken Attwood,

I haven't done anything in CFS1 for a long time so I'm not sure I can be much help. It sounds to me that the altitude for this airfield is set incorrectlly in the BGL file. I can't remember if there is a way to fix it but this would probably involve manually editing the BGL. This might not be difficult with a single airfield but 150 is a different matter altogether. It's possible there's a fix for it posted somewhere. You could try contacting the author but as most CFS1 files were posted some time ago they might no longer be around or changed their address.

If you tell me the page iit's posted on I can download it & check it out to make sure it's not just your CFS1.

Hi Hagar,
Further to my post of a couple of days ago, I've just tracked down the  file with RAF St Mawgan:

It's "UK Airfield Scenery for FS98" and its on p44 of the FS98 scenery downloads.

As I said, every other field I tried seems to have runways on the ground EXCEPT St Mawgan!

All the best, with thanks,

Hi Ken. I checked it out in CFS1 & you're quite correct. It only seems to be the runway as the rest of the airfield is at ground level. St Mawgan isn't the only one either. I only tried Old Warden but that's just the same. It's possible the author posted a fix for this somewhere so it might be worth doing a search under his name or try mailing him. This could possibly be fixed by manually editing the BGL file but unless someone else can help I don't know how this is done. It should be easier to fix as each airfield is configured separately with its own BGL. The alternatives would be to remove the BGL files of the buggy airfields or look around for some similar scenery by a different author.

Thanks Hagar,
I'll try as you suggest, If I find a fix I'll post the details here just in case anyone else hits the snag.

Once again, thanks for your help,
All the best, Ken.
