I don't think so Woody. Charlie obviously has more confidence in Dowty than me. Cheesy

I don't know how much that thing weighs but it strikes me the brakes will have to be pretty good or they might as well not bother.

If you are talking about my post (not sure if you were) but I was responding to CraigL's post...it had nothing really to do with what you all thought...I think we all know that this aircraft will not smoke quite that much when brakeing...or even when landing, UNLESS it was a very very hard landing with all tires poping out..

The first giveaway that caught my eye was the service truck directly in the airplane's path...! Shocked
Also, why would they do a braking test on a ramp instead of the runway???    ???
And of course at that distance from the hangar, the left wing wouldn't clear....
OK, I'll stop now... Grin

you'd be surprised how hot brakes can get on aircraft under heavy braking. Aborted take offs right at V1 can cause fires in the wheel wells and has done recently at manchester with a 777. the smoke amounts in that pic are un-likely but there have been cases where its been close.

If you look at the photo of the Beluga I posted above the smoke is from the tyres & not the brakes at all. Brakes can & do get very hot but I suspect that if this causes any smoke it would be black, not white.

wrong conversation doug. Wink i know thats tyre smoke, got a photo of a 777 with te same thing myself at birmingham. the original smoke from the original picture was from the first start-up of the engines. It wasn't that bad.

I know what the original photo is of. I was just pointing out that the majority of smoke is from the tyres & not the brakes. I doubt that any braking test would cause that amount of smoke, certainly not from the brakes unless they happened to catch fire. Wink

That smoke to me looks like dust kicked up by the thrust of the engines. Tongue

You obviously didn't read the caption below the original photo.

F-WWOW (cn 001) Engines destorage (here #3) The smoke is created by the combustion of the "storage oil" in the engine fuel system.
