My first joke
A piece of nylon cord walks into a pub and asks "err could I have a gin and tonic with a slice of lemon please."
The barman says "Are you a piece of string?"
to which the cord replies "Well actually yes I am."
so the barman says "Sorry we don't serve string in here."
The next night a piece of braided cotton walks in and requests a bicardi and coke.
The bar again enquires "Are you a piece of string?" to the cotton says "Indeed I am."
Again the bar refuses to serve on the grounds of the recipient being a piece of string.
One the third night a rather tatty piece of hemp tied together in the middle walks in and orders a pint of beer
Are you a piece of string says the bar man...
"Frayed Knot" the string replies with a smile
