Kurt Cobain?  You're not serious right?

You can't single out one guitarists as the best.  You can only make an insanely long list of the best.  Tongue

Well, since I am obviously the only person around who is familiar with the "other" popular music genre, in America at least (not jazz, blues or soul either) I shoould mention a few greats no one has considered.  Roy Clark, Chet Atkins, Randy Travis, Vince Gill, Brad Paisley.  I could go on and on with great pickers that chose to follow the Nashville way.  In fact, the test of a truley good guitarist is whether you hear string scrape during a rift or not.  I never heard any from the ones I just mentioned, and yes, I have heard Roy Clark play things that the rockers made famous, no string scrape either.

BB King at 3? I love the guy, he's a true bluesman, but I never considered him to be techically impressive. Granted he had a great feel for his guitar, but not too many memorable riffs...Leo Kottke should be on that list, so should Strunz and Farah. Anybody know what #57 Roy Buchanan's greatest hit was? And Joni Mitchell?,seriously. Nice to see someone we all forgot about on the list Buddy Guy.

There are so many. A while ago they published a Top 100 list here in local magazine. I was very similar to the Rolling Stone list, but if I remember, they also had Les Paul in the top ten as wel as several others.

Ones that come to my mind are: Jimmy Page, Jimmy Hendrix, Brain May, Slash, Tom Morello, Adam Jones, Kirk Hammet, Mark Knopfler,...and did anyone forget my neighbour George Kooymans of Golden Earring??? You don't want me to tell him you forgot him when I see him at the local grocery store again do you?  Grin
