Once you have learnt Gmax you will not go back.  Can look a bit duanting but it is amazing how easy it is to get to grips with. I have jst changed from FSDSv2 and fined it far better.

Hi Batman, (Hopefully your using FS9 with the FS9 Gmax gamepack!).

'Fraid I haven’t got time to answer this fully today - basically you export from gmax as a FS9 scenery mdl and then you can place this directly using obplacerXML. This is best while you are learning Gmax but when you come to distribute the scenery it is best to compile your mdls into an object library from which you can call objects from. Anyway if you need more help I’ll be back later - until then you can find the programs to place your mdls in the "- Add 3D objects (placement)" section. http://ukscenerydesign.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3

Sorry - I had thought that Windolight went through the install procedure. Once you have installed Gmax and activated, you need to download & install the FS2004 Gmax Gamepack SDK from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulator/fs2004_downloads_sdk.asp#gmax

Once youve done that, (you may as well get set up from the start) you can download MDLcommander which will give you an options screen on export which imho is essential!

Hi Batman - How are you getting on? Just to make everything clear Wink

Install Gmax => Install FS2004 Gmax SDK => Install MDL commander

Create your first object using http://www.windowlight.co.nz/simplebuilding.html tutorial, however rather than exporting as a BGL, export your object as an FS9 scenery MDL & place this mdl directly with Arno's ObplacerXML http://www.scenerydesign.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=43

You may have done the above already, wasn't sure! If you need any more help just shout!
