on friday, flight one released the first part of their new scenery enhancement series "ultimate terrain". the first part released covers canada and alaska. usa and europe are to follow. i've been waiting so long for this addon, since i knew it would be incredible. last night i finally got it, so here are a few screenies from my first flight Smiley

Vancouver at night
...

and again
...

same scene at dawn
...

just a bit further
...

leaving the city
...

the addon basically enhances everything possible in the coverage region (which obviously is huge). it comes with accurate roads (usa roads users will get discount on the usa package), accurate landclass, waterbodies etc.
and the incredible 3d road lights and car headlights. all features can be switched on and off seperately through the ultimate terrain menue and some features are customizable (ie 3d lights).

hope you liked my first shots,
more screenshots coming soon (and hopefully with the new corsair soon Wink)

lol, no way man Grin. i don't buy that much payware really but i think this addon is totally worth the money (it's only $29.99 anyway, which is amazing value for such a big addon).  Smiley

EDIT: just to illustrate the value of this exceptional addon (they should really pay me for all this cheesy advertising Grin) here's a map of the coverage area:

I got UT also yesterday and I agree, it's worth every penny.
It also includes rivers/steams and rail roads
The pics (although great) really don't do UT justice.

Sure, it's not 100% perfect and it has a few issues but, these are being addressed and it shouldn't deter anyone from getting it.
I can't wait for UT for the US mainland

FSGlobal sure is great. it can be used in addtion to ultimate terrain, think they are pretty much compatible. on it's own, FSGlobal is still just a mesh though. ultimate terrain is a complete makeover  Wink

OK, that sort of answers my question... I like the free SRTM mesh I've got, but I  still have some beefs- mostly with rivers with gaps in them or going up over mountains, that sort of thing. I'd probably pay for a fix for that...
Tried the "NY Lakes and Rivers" DL and was surprised to find that the stock FS terrain in most cases more closely matched maps and charts in terms of river and lake boundaries than did this "improvement", which added a few missing mountain lakes, but also added stuff like a strip of earth across the Hudson at the NY/NJ border... ??? oh rotty, i think ultimate terrain could be just the right thing for you when it comes out for the US. the addon also flattens roads and rivers going over mountainous terrain, so you won't see them hanging sideways on the hill anymore Smiley

hi, again......noticed that the road across 2nd narrows and lionsgate bridge. do not line up. maybe the bridge could be moved to line up with the road?......... still would like to see day vancouver shots if possible. before i bought the package.

That are some nice looking shots !!

Can someone tell me what ultimate terrain includes.
As far as i can see the mesh itself, coastlines, landclasses
roads, rivers. Is this correct ?

Did someone allready test it in conjunction with FSGlobal ?
I want to order FSGlobal the next time. I´m unshure if both will together cause i think i would prever ultimate terrain if they do not work.

Thanks

The main  things  it includes are:
1)Roads with flattening of major roads.
2)Rivers/lakes and all shorelines.
3)Enhanced land class  basically  in some major cities only.
4)Raillroads including rail yards in major cities.
5) spectaculare night lighting.

It does not contain any mesh.

It definitely adds to the flight simming experience, though there are a few bugs still that I have noticed.

I do get a bit of a disappearing lighting phenomenon as the lights appear then disappear. Not sure if thats my settings in addons or not, but still the lighting is what makes it worth it to me.
