It's basically a handheld PS2.
I don't think I will be getting one anytime soon, I have read and heard too many things about them that leaves me a little skeptical about dropping over $300 on this thing.
Is it true that the warranty does not cover the screen? So if you lose your viewscreen you are just out of luck and $250.00?
The other thing I read was that the square button does not work properly due to it being too close to the screen, Sony acknowledges this problem and says "Oh well".
Also, $50.00 for most games? Like I need another system that costs $50.00 a pop for games, if they were $30.00 it would have been more appealing.
I don't know anyone who has bought one of these or even plans to anytime soon, don't get me wrong, I think it would be very cool to have , but it is waaay overpriced, the games are too expensive and there seems to be a lot of negatives to it, I personally think it will fail in the U.S. also.
As a matter of fact my one gamer friend (bigger gamer than myself) said there was expected to be a shortage of PSP's after the launch because I guess Sony thought everyone was going to run right out and get one for themselves and their kids and everyone else, but the fact is everyone that is selling PSP's has more than enough on hand, they can't seem to sell them.
I believe there will be a price drop by Christmas, when it reaches a more reasonable $150.00 I may spring for one, but for now I will pass (all my gamer friends must feel the same because no one is even talking about the PSP.)
Let us know how much of the stuff I mentioned here is true because I don't know for sure, it's just what I've heard and in the meantime, enjoy your new PSP. 8)
