1. 737NG
2. EMB-145 PIC
3. F1 ATR-72
4. Any Capt. Sim product.
5. PSS A-330/340
6. 747 RFP 2nd Generation

Which of the above or maybe even some I forgot to include comes closest to being "type" rating quality?

PSS airbus at no5?
LDS 767 completely blows that one away, ´.
I tore the PSS A330/340 apart in another thread, as to why it's not realistic. It's as realistic as the default 737, but with new bitmaps and FMS....  8)

Yuck. Airliners Tongue Sad

Real Air Simulations Spitfire tops it for me, and the WoP Mustang comes quite close. Looking forward to the CS C-130 though, and their Yak-3 is very good too... Grin

Okay, of course I failed to consider the light and sporty/fighter fans as well. Roll Eyes  I requested that based on a heavy iron drivers perspective.  I also forgot to include MAAM Sim planes in the group to.  I have Briefing Time and I've seen the inside of THE Briefing Time at the 03 avsim conference in Reading and heard it.  Pretty real from those stand points although I don't know about the handling but I'm sure it's correct.

Dumb question, but unless one flies both the real airplane and the flightsim model, how can one REALLY tell?

I always judge the payware product after how well the systems are simulated, Hydraulics, electrics, FMS and so forth.

That's the only part I can compare with.
And then you have the obvious cases, some payware companies have very lousy FDE's, so the commercial airliner reacts like a fighter jet.
Thankfully those cases are very rare nowadays  Smiley

Yes indeed, my wife bought me Wings of Power for my birthday.  I would say they rate real close to Briefing Time for realistic warbirds.  I have yet to make a successful full load take of in the Superfort though.  So far I've only been able to keep her airborne with half load of fuel.  I don't how the real B-29 handled fully loaded but if the Wings of Power B-29 is accurate then my deepest respect for the pilots who flew them is due.

For me its a very close call between the WoP P-51 and the Real Air Spit. For me, the Spit probably wins (just) on the buffet and stall characteristics (which seem a little closer to what I would expect from the real one), but again, without flying the real thing its hard to tell

IMO, yes. Very high quality. I run a modest system and it work fine for me, with no trouble getting 20-30fps...
