I was doing flight in the FS design Constellation (3rd today) and changing views, The next thing I know, the screen pitches dead black, I hit alt and manage to get it back, and half the aircraft textures load, then The sim gets laggy, Go's black, Comes back, Then after about a minute, I get an error FS Has to shut down would you like it to restart..... I dunno if she's dying or not, its a Built in Nvidia Geforce MX 440 64 MB DDR Ram off from my system ram. Any help would be thanked (if I need new GPU well.... Prolly within the next 2 or 3 weeks when I get a job) Cheers! Gunny04 Going to post the shots I did get....

sorry to say, but its time for that shiny new graphics card. Ide suggest an ATi Radeon 9600 SE or 6600GT on a budget, but if you really wanna shell out the cash....X800 PRO!!!! But i would assume that infact your graphics card is going to die farily quickly. How old is it anyway???

It's an integrated (onboard) graphics chip ctjoyce. Some of the nForce2 mainboards had them with the MX440 inbuilt (I think). They were the "Creme de la creme" of onboard graphics.

If you can go into BIOS and check to see that your settings haven't been lost.... ie. 8x AGP and any other graphics related settings, and maybe allocate 128 mb of shared ram to the onboard?

Maybe you accidently changed the display settings of the video driver, or game display settings.

ctjoyce is right, the mx440's were never up to the task of FS9, very few cards are.

What you described sounds like another unrelated problem though.

good idea. Go with the 9800SE or PRO. Decent price, but will last you for atleast four years before upgrading is nessassary. But If you must go nVidia get the 6600GT, best on a budget. And sorry to hear this, but atleast youll have the adequate graphics for FS10

Just to keep my dad happy, THEN I am building a nice 2000 to 3500 comp, then Digital camera etc..... I could care less if this comp starts frying, I can replace it  Roll Eyes Cheers, Gunny04

Aviod the SE at all costs.

BTW, the 9800 pro and the 6600 gt are about the same price. Go with the 6600gt as it is much better than any 9800 (including the XT).

I'm at the point of saying its not the graphics causing FS to crash. I went to change flight plan and the sim just froze and I got a message saying FS had to close would you like to restart blah blah blah.... I've gotten this message about 25 times..... Just today I landed concorde was down to 60 knots on runway Black screen and dead fs..... Any ideas? Cheers, Gunny04

Actually, I'm an ati fan. I have an x800 or x850 in almost every computer. I only use nvidia because of SLI. Once ATI comes out with their multi-rendering solution, I'm going to ditch these 6800's.
