Supercruise is the ability to reach and maintain a supersonic cruising speed without using afterburners. Sorry Concorde fans, it can't do it. Tongue

Pilot for a major US airline certified in the: EMB-120, CRJ, 727, 737, 757, 767, and A-320 and military, T-38, C-130, C-141, and C-5 along with misc. other small airplanes. Any questions, I'm here for you.

Saratoga, if you are thinking of infering that Concorde wasn't capable of supercruise, then please, take a trip HERE, then come back and tell us all how it managed flying for hours in afterburner, without towing a fuel trailer behind itself.......?
Further info is available HERE.....I was lucky enough to find this online. I have a copy of the same book, brought back from Heathrow, back in the early 80's by my mother.

Well I shall rephrase. But only after this: And I quote:
Quote:
...exceed Mach 1 in level flight without afterburners...able to cruise at supersonic speeds without the use of afterburners...

The Concorde cannot reach it's Mach 2 cruising speed without afterburners, period. Due to the huge drag curve between Mach 1 and Mach 1.4, it's impossible (well a dive perhaps...). It CAN supercruise at like Mach 1.05 and it can easily cruise at Mach 2, just it can't reach 2 without the burners.

typhoon does mach 1.3 without burners. Raptor does 1.5 without them. Both have a top speed of about Mach 2 though.

Poppycock! Just lame excuses for not being able to develop a fighter better than one made 50 years ago. Grin
