okay so apparently a barebones system is a great starting point for a novice like me...getting closer every day!

Yes, they  can help people but really IMO you dont need a barebone, just buy all your parts and build it. Building it is not the hard part most of the time if you RTFM and take your time. You will get much more satisfaction of your pice of work you put together 100% yourself but then if you dont feel comfortable mounting a motherboard barebone is way to go.  Also reading your oter posts you want "bang for the buck" Might get a better bang if you start from scartch?
