I just re-installed FS2002 on my computer after not playing it for awhile. Are there any downloads that are must haves to make the experience better or just to make the game run smoother?

Hi,
Welcome to SimV!! It depends on what kind of flying you prefer. If you like heavies or commercial flying try Meljet's 777's and 747's. For GA, there are many files that you can search for here at SimV or at Avsim. If your looking for scenery, you can get the payware LAGO FSSE for FS2002. Otherwise, there are many freeware scenery add-ons for individual airports. For cloud textures, I would recommend FS Sky World 2002. For better airport textures, I would recommend Airport Enviroment Upgrade v3.0 by Chris Arrington. Better water textures are available over at Avsim. In the search file library option, just type in water textures under the category of FS2002. Oh yes, a little more realistic AI traffic hasn't hurt anyone, so i suggest PAI packages. Get them from  here:
www.projectai.com

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Ashar

if you want textures for the whole world, there is no add-on that does that. there are add-ons for individual airports. some payware some freeware.

chek here at SimV or at Avsim

there are mesh scenery textures for the entire world in the downloads section of simv- i recommend these, they make the terrain much more releastic and dont have much of an effect on frame rate
